It's been a slow start, but most of my hostas are now unfurled. Most are back too, but a few that were struggling last year didn't make it through the winter. I've got a few more that are struggling now and I'm dealing with increased sun from the loss of a 45 yr-old ash tree (Emerald Ash Borer damage).
I've already moved a couple of hostas around because of the difference in sun and am carefully watching the others that are now in full sun. The majority of my hostas were not badly affected by the loss of this tree, but many in the neighbourhood have gone which increases general sunniness.
Here are a few pictures taken yesterday.
'Allegan Fog'
'Alligator Shoes'
'Ann Kulpa' - new last year from a general nursery, not a hosta specialty place; so still in a pot
'Aristocrat'
'Avalanche' - getting crispy from too much sun. I've moved it to the back yard.
part of a 'Blue Cadet' border
'Blue Shadows' is slower to emerge
'Blue Wedgewood'
'Brother Stefan'' not yet showing much colour difference in the leaf centre.
'Bulletproof'
'Captain Kirk' not yet showing much colour difference in the leaf centre.
'Charlotte's Web'
'Cherry Berry'
'Cherry Tart' - was completely wilted today at noon. Has been thoroughly watered, but I may need to find a shadier location for it.
'Chinese Sunrise'
'Country Mouse' - one of my favourite minis and from a different family than the "mouse ears" clan is.
'Curly Fries' - now in full sun and so far it's doing all right, but I will likely move it.
'Cutting Edge'
