I developed an interest (mild, not intense) in Iris plants/flovvers a fevv years back and have been noticing any/all references to them off and on since.. My original focus vvas on 'LOUISIANA IRIS', thinking them to be sort of a bog plant more or less native to South East U.S. ...
My question; vvhat , if any, differences exist betvveen 'LOUISIANA IRIS', 'BEARDED IRIS', 'TALL BEARDED IRIS', 'INTERMEDIATE BEARDED IRIS' and vvhatever other names are out there that apply to the same plant/flovver????
Or, vvhich taxonomic category do they separate from each other?.... I don't think that question makes good sense..
I have some little understanding relative to cultivar names..
Hopefully, someone can give me some guidance on this vvithout sending me all the vvay back to a sixth grade biology class, vvhich I probably need...
Thanks in advance, Sam.....

Tall Bearded and Intermediate Bearded are both subsets/categories of the general Bearded Iris classification. This link might help with Bearded Iris definitions:

Thank you, Debra, that's good info and I've added to 'FAVORITES LIST' . . .
I also visited your 'GREEN AMBER GARDENS' vveb site and like the concept very much; may the Lord bless you and your efforts there....

Winterberry is a great vendor, especially for Standard Dwarf Beardeds. Once you get to know folks on the Iris forum, you will find them/us generous with trades and for-postage shipments, too. The second best thing about Iris is increase that can be shared. (First best is how pretty they are. Smiling ) If you decide you want to branch out from Louisiana Iris, take a look at my plant list, here. If I have extras, I would be happy to send for postage reimbursement to get you started.

Thank you, it is a project dear to me. Lovey dubby
