I have a 20 by 10 foot plot with mostly heirloom tomatos/ peppers/ squash watermelons that kind of thing. and I was wondering what herbs/ things I could get at the local farmers market would be good companion plants.

basil I know is good?

Marigolds will brighten it up and repel some bugs.

We started planting Greek Oregano last year. Oregano is supposed to repel mosquitoes, cucumber beetles and cabbage moths.

Oregano will also be a magnet plant to keep aphids, spider mites and leaf hoppers away from the more valuable crops.

A mature Greek Oregano plant spreads to about 24 x 32-34, at least it does here, so give it room.
