Today 'Mons. Jules Elies' bloomed and I have a vase of these very fragrant (and beautiful) flowers next to my chair where I am watching the Cavaliers/Hawks NBA game. I should be able to indulge myself with fragrant peonies in the house and just plain beautiful flowers all over my yard for the next month at least! And a few peonies have been blooming for 3 weeks already. I have been trying to add new acquisitions for both fragrance and length of bloom season, and should find out how successful I have been in the coming weeks. Peonies are as close to the perfect perennial as there is! Don't you all agree with me?

That's a beauty, Linda. I am hoping to get to the open house of a grower in this area. It got rained out last year, so I am crossing my fingers for this year. I am also watching for a gal at the flea market who sells so many of the newer ones at great prices. My budget doesn't allow for very many, but a couple would be nice!!

Ooops, posted a question here thinking I was on another thread!

Lovely blooms to enjoy indoors though! I've been loving walking into a room to the scent of peonies too. There is just something so luxurious about a vase of peonies.

I agree with you. Peonies are graceful, delicate yet sturdy and the scented ones have a special place in my heart. So yeah, I'd say that means they are pretty much perfect.

Lucky you.
I have not had any bloomed since I moved them 2 years ago.I think they will next year as I only brought small pieces.

Martha Stewart is not a favorite person of mine, but my MIL sent me two of her magazines. One had the most amazing flower arrangements using among many other flowers peonies. And yes, they add an amazing grace and beauty. Course I am partial to them as you all are so I might be just a bit biased. Hilarious!

Mary, you are so right about those beautiful flowers. When I did wedding flowers, they were often requested and the fragrance added do much to the bouquets.
