Something has changed from Rosey Dawn.
My order came ( 53 plants ) but no bonuses.
I have asked a few gardeners but no one ordered this year.
I have an e-mail to RD hopefully I will get an answer.
I was bummed, they always send a new variety to try.

Jo Ann, I ordered and no bonuses. Not a big as you but was a good sized order. The plants are fabulous though.

Julia, they used to include a bonus for every 10 plants in the order. It looks like they have discontinued the practice.

Here is what they said.
JoAnn,

Thank you for writing us with your concern about bonus plants. Rosy Dawn Gardens customers have been requesting that we add new lines of coleus to our offerings, such as the Under the Sea and Terra Nova varieties. Growing thousands of bonus plants requires a great deal of greenhouse space. Bringing in new coleus introductions has made a lot of people happy, but consequently we had to make the choice of discontinuing our bonus plant program. We are sorry for any disappointment this causes.

That's a nice response. I sure can understand about greenhouse space, mine is always stuffed. I'm trying a few of the Terra Nova varieties but found them at a local greenhouse. Love the under the sea varieties. I just really like there quality of plants they send.

They do send excellent quality plants but whoever thought up the idea to discontinue the bonuses doesn't realize how it disappoints excellent customers like Jo Ann.

Julia. I do to,quality is great and what made me a customer for 7 years was the genius systen for paking and shipping
Their ship costs are lower than say Garden Crossing or Bluestone.

I confess the Under the Sea plants are unique as individuals but clumped in a pot they just look confused to me that is.
I hope the Terra Nova varieties work here.
I bought Piper to edge the Woodpile area.

Jo Ann, You always do such wonderful things with all you plants in your containers. I think it is increasingly harder to keep costs down with everything else going up. I have a small greenhouse and the soil (HP) just keeps going up. I agree Rosey Dawn is an A plus for sending plants. Such a joy to unpack.

Will keep my eye on your thread in containers. Big Grin

Julia, They used to give 10% off for early orders and had to stop in order to keep the shipping costs down. The business is a young couple. I am sure they see an increase in customers with this latest plan.
I do love their plants so will order next byear but not plan a mystery container of their bonus plants.

I would think that rather than offer bonus plants, which I can see takes enormous growing/storage space and costs shipping, that they could implement a points/rewards program for discounted plants. For example if a person ordered $50 of plants, they may get 1/2 price shipping, or if they order $100 plants they get 10% off. Or maybe if they order 2 yrs in a row, they get a discount. That way the customer is given a good deal, and the nursery doesn't have to care for/maintain so many extra plants. There are some people that really do not like bonus plants, I know I sometimes get something I already have or something I don't have a spot for.

Agreed on all points. I order a lot of dahlias and keep getting bonuses I'd never even want to see, let alone grow.
