Something has changed from Rosey Dawn.
My order came ( 53 plants ) but no bonuses.
I have asked a few gardeners but no one ordered this year.
I have an e-mail to RD hopefully I will get an answer.
I was bummed, they always send a new variety to try.

I hope its just a mistake or they arent offering that surprise anymore.

I hope it was a mistake. I know you always plan big with the coleus. If anybody should be treated to several free plants it should be you.

I do not order from them because the shipping is too high. I was going to breakdown and get a few until I got to place your order and saw what they wanted for shipping and I decided I could live without their coleus. I just picked up what I could find at my local nursery and the big box stores.

Most of the online vendors are high but they are way over the top.

Cinta, I forgot I posted here. I emailed RD and this was their reply
JoAnn,

Thank you for writing us with your concern about bonus plants. Rosy Dawn Gardens customers have been requesting that we add new lines of coleus to our offerings, such as the Under the Sea and Terra Nova varieties. Growing thousands of bonus plants requires a great deal of greenhouse space. Bringing in new coleus introductions has made a lot of people happy, but consequently we had to make the choice of discontinuing our bonus plant program. We are sorry for any disappointment this causes.

I talked with Glenn a few years back when they discontinued the 10% discount for Daves Garden members with the secret code number. He said it was just him and his wife and in order to keep shipping at $10.00 they had to discontinue the discount.
It doesnt surprise me but that just how things change.

Maybe I remembered wrong but I thought when I was ready to check out they not only had a 10 or more shipping price and extra charge per plant.

I have said I am cheap and especially cheaper when it comes to an annual. I am not good at over wintering Coleus so it is a 3 month investment and I also have large perennial gardens that I am developing and planting. It is too big of an investment for me to pay a lot for annuals for such a short growing season for my zone.

That said I think they would think good customer service would have been to apologize to their long term customers and send you a couple bonus plants that did not sell we know the greenhouse is not empty and tell you that in the future they will not be able to send bonus plants for the reasons they stated. Just my opinion.

Cinta, I might be wrong but I never paid more than 10 dollars shipping.
OOOPS Just checked the invoice and it was $15.00 for 53 plants.
Two Flatrate boxes taped together.
There has never been a per plant charge.

I went over to their site you are right it is a 15 flat rate. But still 50+ plants you could be considered a bulk customer which would receive special treatment a bonus plant is a cheap way to keeping a good customer happy and returning every year.

Maybe I am a bad business woman. I have rental property and I give my tenants Christmas rent free if they are good payers and do not destroy the houses. If they rent close to Christmas and have not had time to develop a rating in my opinion I give them a 50.00 gift card for Christmas. It is just me but I think people/your customer should be treated well in return you get more rather than less. When I have an opening I have people ringing my phone off wanting to rent one of my houses.

Cinta ,After the second WW my father rehabbed houses and was a landlord. He presented neat clean well designed spaces for returning GI's going to Cornell on the GI bill. He never had a problem in those days I think it was because renters respected the nice places to live.
These days the landlord lives 3 states away or tries to skirt the codes and the conditions make the tenents just not care.

I rented rooms in my house. My tenants were mostly young people starting their first job. I lived in the house and when I made a "crammed lasagna" I shared it. I only had one tenant in 10 years ,that was a nuisance and I asked her to leave, she had a drug problem that was escalating.

You sound like a fair landlord. I expect there are prospective tenants standing in line to rent your spaces.

Oh Jo Anne what a wonderful story about your father. Lovey dubby I feel for our returning service men in this day. The VA story was horrible.

I love to rehab. I pick my houses up on repo and fix them up. I like to do different decors but I try to keep it basic so they can add their personality. My favorite rooms are the kitchens and baths to do because I also love tile. They are doing amazing thing with tile these days. I hit the resale shop and have been able to pick up real marble cheaper than ceramic at the BB stores. I love the finish look of high end bathrooms and kitchens, That sales and rent houses fast.

The only thing I tell them is they have to live with beige and white wall. They can add color with furniture and accessories. After the one tenant painted rooms dark blue and purple and it took several can of paint per room to cover that ended the leave way of wanting a different color on the walls.
