I waited patiently for 4 or 5 years for my seed-grown plant to make flowers. I was rewarded today. I love the color!!

There is no cultivar name.

Very pretty! I'm so happy for you! It has a lot of buds, too. Don't feed/water it a lot right now. Buds will drink themselves to death and fall off, boooo

Wow, Delaware, not the easiest place for keeping Adeniums! Where did you get the seed?

Thanks, Melissa, so much! I appreciate the guidance on water / fertilizer schedule. I was not aware. How tragic it would be to have seen them all drop. Oy!

I got the seeds in a seed trade. I got lucky with that trade.

You grew this beautiful plant for so many years...continue to do what you have been doing.
Happy growing! Smiling
(p.s.) I love the color also, and the form...she looks robust and proud.

Yes, to your question about self-compatibility. The trick is to find the pollen! Adeniums are weird plants in every way. I don't have a photo for you, but if you google images adenium flower pollen, there is a cut away photo of the structure. The pollen is inside a sort of teepee, and the pistil, female part, is separated by a fleshy sort of bit, so generally the flowers don't produce seeds. Youtube has a number of videos about pollinating, all are for using two flowers, but you could adapt to one flower. I use an exacto knife to slice open a one day old flower to pollinate. I try to cause as little injury as possible. I transfer pollen with a tiny paintbrush that artists use to paint miniatures.

Here is my other Adenium obesum I grew out from seed. Seed came from Mr. Ko on eBay years ago. I have unfortunately lost the identity tag. That doesn't bother me, I think it is mahvelous, simply mahvelous.

Yes, it is. I think pink and pink/white DR blooms are so dainty looking.

Beautiful flowers/plants Joseph!!! Hurray!

I JUST started growing DRs last fall... started with 3 but lost one during the winter (my weakest one to start with) and they have just come out of dormancy with great looking new leaves. Gonna try these two for a bit and see if I can grow them here in PA before I adventure into growing seeds.
I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

Here is mine. I bought it two years ago.
I'm now addicted. I bought three today, about 18 inches tall, no current blossoms, so I don't know the color. They badly need repotting and one needs pruning.
