Some of my salvias in pots are pretty root bound and I don't necessarily want to put them into bigger pots. Can a person trim the roots in the spring and repot? Can I do this with certain varieties? Any suggestions?

Until this Spring, I only had annual (to me because of my zone) Salvias in containers and never had that situation. I decided this Spring to plant some zone 6, as well as, annual Salvias in containers. (I don't know if the hardy ones will survive the Winter in a container or not. We'll see next Spring.)

Aside from the European and Asian rosette growing perennial Salvias, I never have liked repotting an older plant. Why - it is easier to start with a new plant. Most grow so fast that the loss is only temporary. Easier in many ways. Cutting back root systems in large pots is a job!
