DH built a wooden box to keep the banana leaves from shredding while transporting pot to show. Worked well. Only had one leaf I had to trim. Took three men to hoist it onto the the truck to take it home. Didn't worry anymore about leaves after show! It has bounced back this afternoon!

Thanks, Cheryl and Jolana! I love the shows, but hauling the plants is getting to be a chore.

Great tropical display Sandi! Congrats on the ribbons. Sounds like you guys had fun with the box? It is always an adventure transporting living art.

We looked like the Beverly Hillbillys driving slowly through Rollingwood to avoid getting onto MoPac. I didn't take many entries this time. The Ligularia (I bought when you and I went shopping) fell over and quite a few stems were broken.

How was your art show?

Bummer about the Ling. Was that going to be part of the display?

We all had a great time and I sold more than I thought I would. We were under an oak tree and the breeze felt nice and cool. Everyone liked the pots I made, so that was nice.

Going to make a few of the pots soon. Have all the stuff down behind the pond so I can make a mess. I'm sure your pots were a big hit. You have a creative streak.

I came home from the show with an asparagus lily. One of our members donated some for the sale. I tried to find the botanical name and wasn't successful. I ran into him yesterday and he said he'd email it to me. I'd never seen one so I bought it! It really is scraggly looking, but unusual. Has tiny blooms up the stems. Watch it be invasive and spread all over the garden!

Congratulations Sandy! That was quite a commitment to enter. Very pretty combos.
I wonder if your "heavy lifters" are giving you semps as gifts now. Sticking tongue out

Thanks, Anna! I had a bromeliad, Bilbergia windii, that also was a Best of Section. Usually it blooms later, but I guess all the rain we had fooled into thinking it was time to bloom. Timing is everything.
I entered four other plants. Three were First Place, Green Thumbs. The fourth one turned over on the way to the show and had visible damage. It got a Second Place. I didn't want to enter it, but it was so unusual, I decided to trim it and see what would happen.

In gratitude, I gave two plant lifters Amorphophallus. They were happy. The third pot lifter (DH) just tolerates my plant addiction. He was lucky to get dinner. Whistling
