The photo is of the first new lily seedling I have seen in about 6 years. It is a product of crossing Pitkin Marsh Lily with the pink form of Lilium parvum, then crossing those seedling with each other, sibling cross. The first generation was the most vigorous of the Western American hybrids I had been breeding (by far) and bloomed quickly in the seed flat (large deep boxes), they all looked pretty much the same, orange spotted. I started this batch of seed in 2012 and now have my first bloom. I will be having yellows and oranges also it appears.
Anyway I have nothing to pollinate them but more of its own siblings since my species seedlings take many years (and then some in this climate) to grow to bloom size.
So if anyone has any western American species like L. kelloggii or even other American lily hybrids I would really love to get some, even if I can't use it this year I can freeze it for next. Save my lilies from incest - pleeeze!
