Does anyone have this plant? Has anyone investigated this cultivar name? There's no patent, and it doesn't seem to exist anywhere else, except on Glasshouse Works website, and one site in German that no longer has the entry for that plant.

Cuttings received in trade today. Hopefully it will bloom soon!

I had that years ago. I do not remember it blooming.

TY, Lin! I don't think it's a cultivar, I think it's a made-up sales name - but for which species (and genus?) The German site had it attached to Trip. serrulata, in the small bit of writing in the search results, but that's hardly conclusive to match pic to name, and trying to find reliable pics of various Tripogandras seems futile.

Cinta, it *will* bloom! It must or I'll have a come-apart! LOL!

I put the cuttings in several spots in the ground to do as much as possible before it gets cold. There were roots already from a couple days in a moist paper towel. Cool! More pics when they look like "something..."

If my memory is working it just seemed to be Purple heart but green on top instead of an entire purple leaf. So if it blooms it will probably be the little pink flower that last one day. If that is what it did it would be why I missed it flower. I was traveling for work when I had the plant so if it did not bloom the two days I was home I missed the bloom.

That's the only bad thing about these, the flowers don't last long enough.

Yes but if the Purple heart is full with lots of tips you will constantly have flowers. The year I had a lot of flowers I had broken all the trailers and put them in the pot early spring. I had flowers constantly.

Before I lose track of what day it was, here's a "before" shot, the day the cuttings were PIG. There's another one somewhere, but about this size. Bottom left & upper R corners. Hard to see from above, sorry.

These plants have doubled in size since the 15th. I'll be turning 3 into 6 in a couple weeks. Here's one of them this morning.

I've taken cuttings of all of the original stems, and about to start another round... Adding the cuttings to my Commelinaceae bed, which has several diff Tradescantias & Callisias. Would love to find some Commelina erecta to add.

Lot of good growth. Is this going.to be a perennial garden area?

I will leave some of everything & find out what is hardy here. I know T. zebrina & pallida are hardy, and Callisia repens & cordifolia, Gibasis geniculata. Conflicting or nonexistent hardiness info for some of the other plants, especially Tripogandra. The slight slope there & covering with a big pile of leaves when they fall should help.

I understand that conflicting zone hardiness thing. I think zones at this point are not a good indicator of what will survive. I am suppose to be a zone 6 but some zone 5 can grow things I cannot because of the type of winter we get in this area.

We do not get cold and stay cold. We can be 30 one day and the next day 60. Then we can get rain for two weeks and the next two weeks of freezing rain going right to snow. Then 60 degrees. All the freeze thaw and freezing rain makes the soil a block of ice and plants do not have a chance. They would stand a better chance of surviving if I pulled the plant out of the soil and stomped on the plant.

Well it will be interesting to see how your garden develops next summer and what survives. One winter pallida survived in my garden

I had one grown for 3 years in a pot...it was amazing how fast it grew.. If a piece broke off I would cut the bottom leaves off and just stick it back in the pot and it was full of little lavender flowers on the tips of each one.. I got a new neighbor who had no plants so I gave it to her as a welcome to the neighborhood gift😊Oh, I treated it with a daily dose of water😄

Hi again, Sharon! Just "saw" you in another discussion, obviously you have great taste! If you had taken a pic of your Tripo before so generously giving it to your neighbor, we'd love to see it! Agree, does seem to enjoy staying moist.

Here's one of the cuttings, sticking straight up & growing a new leaf about every 2-3 days.

Looks like a Tradescantia to me, is Tripogandra a new name for that one?

They are closely related genera in the Commelinaceae family together.

I don't think geneticists have gotten to these plants yet. When they do, I predict a lot of renaming.
