I have an austrain copper rose/ and a blue green type with pink blooms. this is in full sun or part shade depending on how the sun is in the sky.

i know species roses can take part shade unlike other types which is why i planted them.

trouble is my yard has part shade/ the only area left that gets full sun all day is the area by the garage between the neighbors yard and our slab of concreate where cars park. this area I plan on bearded irises but could do a rose/ iris combo. Right now this area is choked with weeds and the neighbors put trucks and other cars nearby.

If you want to grow something more exciting than a species rose, hybrid musks can take part shade.

As for cold-zone roses in general, one of our members wrote a good article about this, with some luscious photos that might inspire you.

Yeah.... the problem with hybrid musks is they die back a lot during our winters.

Species roses don't do that.... anyway I found the site to be too rocky for planting anyway.

The boulevard in front unlike the backyard is good but I think there is a height restriction of 3 feet posed by the city. most species roses get much bigger then 3 feet. I do have some areas by the back/sides of the house I could do but they get part shade. I was thinking white roses, I have reddish orange/ pink and red nailed down.
