One of my mature azaleas has a spot that's defoliating.



It happened last summer as well, and foliage did not grow in that spot this spring. Now the spot is getting larger.

Does anyone know what it might be?

In my garden I had the same thing to the point of them dying completely. Started fertilizing with a high acid product and they seem to be coming back. Lost all but 4 of 15. You can also use coffee grounds for organic fertilizer. Can't hurt. Our soil is very alkaline here in So. California. I'd never experienced that before so maybe that would help.
