I have a Furcraea foetida 'Mediopicta' which I have been growing for a number of years. It has finally reached a nice size and I have the perfect spot for it. Well, it's going to bloom. I should be excited, but I also know this spells the end of it.....

Looks like a spectacular bloom show coming up! Hope it makes some pups before it goes!

These don't make pups; it will eventually have plantlets on the mature flower stalk (which can give the Royal Palm next to it a run for its money for height)

Anticipation builder galore

My question is to get the babies do you have to wait until they fall to the ground or do you have to cut it down to get to the plants.

In my experience, the babies get bigger and bigger and eventually the stalk gets to leaning so you can get the plantlets off easily.

It's a beautiful plant! I'd be out there guarding the flower spike.
