We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in June 2015" in Orchids forum

Another month went by with lots of beautiful and interesting Orchid blooms and chat and it is time to start the new thread for July.
Phrag schlimii opened a cute little bloom in the cage.

Actually, you might be hotter than we are some days, Ursula. We often go a whole summer without getting above 92 or so, but the humidity makes it "feel like" 104 and of course we don't cool off at night like you do up there. Our low here last night was 81. Phew, air you can wear!

That sure is a sweet little Phrag and I love the Dutch Slippers.

It is, love that floofy velvet lip! I have nothing new, but my Miltassia continues to open flowers (after I left it in the blazing sun and cooked the first flower Rolling my eyes. ). It seems to have forgiven me.

Bc. Star Ruby 'Xanadu' has greenish petals when the flowers first open and they mature to the nice dark red. Something out there is fragrant at night, but I'll have to remember to go out and sniff this one later.

All my Brassavola types really like some direct sun to bloom well, Ken. If you have them under/in the oak trees for the summer, maybe shift them to the sunniest spot?

I will try to do that. I am limited as to where I can put them. I would like to see at least one bloom before I sell out of them. That's an ongoing problem. I purchase my seedlings 25 per variety and my blooming size ones 5-10, and more often than not, they are all sold out before seeing that first bloom. I do try to put one or two back as my "personal plants", but when someone really wants something in my collection, well, it becomes a business decision. Sighing!

I do have a few that are starting to show inflorescence, and at least two of them will be the first blooms I have seen. Those two are the Blc. Exotic's Perfection 'Blushed' and a plant I grew from flask (three years ago), C. Chocolate Drop 'Kodama' AM/AOS. I put that one 'Kodama' with a "Do Not Sell" label and have stuck to my guns. I have an Encyclia alata var. flavus that has been in bloom for over two months, and it is on the wane, with only three flowers still looking fresh. My Slc. Fire Magic 'Nora' has been in bloom for over a month, and those flowers are on the wane as well. Both of my Copper Queens are in bloom but only have a single flower each.

I don't have a. Lot of orchid blooms but I thought I'd post something so I can at least see your updates and enjoy the blooms. I got 3 orchids from clearance racks of Lowe's yesterday 2 minis and one Oncidium (I think). They are not as cheap as Patty's mini clearance purchase. My mini was $4 and Oncidium was $7, one of the mini has a bloom.

That's a sweet little mini you got Gigi, and the white Den is elegant.

I'm hoping for another flush of little white blooms from my "thunderstorm orchid" since we **FINALLY** Hurray! have a good storm and some nice steady rain happening tonight.

It also shut down the stupid kid up the street who sets off fireworks - last night until 2am. Another Hurray! Hurray! nodding

Oh, I agree, that is a nice looking Dendrobium. Around here one might find something like that perhaps at Trader Joe's, I would faint seeing that at our Lowe's.

Fireworks at 2 in the morning? I would have entertained murderous thoughts..... Whistling

When you live in my neighborhood, you get used to that. I've been hearing the illegal fireworks , at all hours, for two weeks. As long as it isn't too close, I'm learning to sleep through it...unless it shakes the house.
