I succumbed to fancy packaging and grew Mandarin Orange tomatoes this year - looking on the plant database, there is a similar tomato called Mandarin Cross, which is orange, but no entry for Mandarin Orange. Would anyone know if these are different hybrids, or the same one by different names?

According to Carolyn Male the name should be Mandarin Cross. It is listed under Mandarin by Kitazawa, most other vendors as Mandarin Cross. http://t.tatianastomatobase.co... http://tomatoville.com/showthr... In any case it is an open pollinated tomato

Thank you! Looks like it is going to give me my first tomato, regardless of what it is called.

That is good to know.
I had seeds for it at one time, but did not know whether it was any good for northern climates with that name. The seeds were labelled as Mandarin Orange. It may go by that name in Britain?

It has been growing well but so far has not been a big producer, but that may be due to the hot weather we may be having. The next couple of weeks should be better as far as fruiting and flowering is concern. One of the plants has curled leaves and has not produced any fruit.

How hot has your weather been??

We haven't really had anything to classify as "hot", maybe a max of 80F. Maybe I need to move to Calgary!!

It was 30C+ for a couple of weeks, plus the pot was right by the house, which may have reflected heat - it has cooled down this week to around 20-25C. I suspect the watering was more of a factor.
