Woo hoo! Jelly Bean is in full bloom with 10 flowers! Unicorn with 9.
Also, two NOID rollers, my largest Red Beauty and not to be forgotten, Silverine are probably about a week from flowering.

It's cool that some of the NOID cobwebs are finishing up while other cultivars are flowering like crazy and still others will bloom very soon.
This should help insure I don't get all of the same hybrid.

I was wondering, will the flowering Jovis cross with the flowering semps?
There are a few of each flowering now.

I have never had them cross on their own in my collection. I've even had the bloom stalks laying against each other, with bees all over them, and have not had seedlings showing characteristics of both Jovis and Semps.
There are some crosses between the J. roller types and J. heuffelii, but even that is not common.
Maybe Kevin know of some Jovi/semp crosses. @JungleShadows.

There are a few rollers in bloom as well as four Heuffs and 5 semps. Dallas and Sassy Frass are also starting to elongate. I assume they'll bloom next.

Any semp that I have multiples of, I'm letting go to flower.
Hopefully I'll get some interesting babies!

I took out a bunch of bloom stalks yesterday, the ones I don't care to have seed from, and I don't want seedlings coming up all over the beds. Hope to finish the job today. I'm also closing in on some crosses that I want to do, just need their bloom stalks to mature at the same time.

How long should the stalk remain in place after the flowers are spent?
In researching I've read that the seed pods need to "ripen" before picking and drying.
How do I know when their ripe?
My first NOID to flower has some spent flower stems with seed pods that are browish.
I want to be sure I'm doing this right!

The seed pods will become dry and almost crispy, but the capsules will still be partially closed. The seed releases easily so you need to be careful when you harvest them.
Maybe @JungleShadows can give you better instructions.

Whew, glad I asked. I don't want to mess up and take seeds that aren't ripe.
I have my paper bags ready and I have containers with lids to sow the seeds.

Dang it, this is so exciting!

I'm at exactly the same stage Terri , watching and wondering should I cut the stalks now or wait another week . Don't want to mess this one up as I'm not getting any younger .
I can't believe how well my bought in seed has done this year , sown late February and already producing chicks .

I bought the seed on Ebay from a UK seller , I don't have the name anymore but the label said "200 mixed sempervivum seed "
Here they are today . I also bought jovibarba seed from sempervivum.de and only one germinated
