I have a question Jericson. Why set the plant directly on the clay pot? I have used small pots to increase negative space, cover the drainage hole in a large pot, but not to set a plant on. Confused

Apparently it promotes a bigger caudex.

I believe it does help promote bigger caudex, but more over it produces a void with no roots for future raising of the plant to have a lifted/stilt appearance as a mature plant. This process would take many years and they are quite something.

Cindi, I agree with Rick. JP has started a root-training process for his newly acquired arabicum seedlings. Others use other methods. To each his own.
I think I know JP by now...he shows pictures with barely any information, then waits for us to guess.
Right, JP? Hilarious! BTW, where did you acquire your teaching methods? I like your strategy. Green Grin!

as kadie said :p....she knows me so well Green Grin! Green Grin! Green Grin! ....for this lads, ill be trying root organization, takes patience and years to achieve, im still beginner to this things ive been doing, so it can be a failure or its gonna be a big success, my style is practice makes permanent and permanent makes perfect, i acquire my teaching methods in other people, i combine them all, and make my own style of training,i use what i have in my house, i have those 1inch ceramic pots, and let my plants sit on it for what purpose, to let the roots get thicker and raise them little by little well if i succeed though, if not try again in a different ways, i love to gamble on everything its better to see failures early in the game then correct the mistakes,

JP,
Are your arabicum seedlings the same kind as the examples you have shown? What kind? Petch Na Wang, Lop Bu Ri, or Sing Bu Ri?

Absolutely stunning plants Jericson. I am sure that one day you will achieve this goal. You seem to have the passion and patience that it will take to achieve this. Kudos to you.

Jericson, I believe that in Hawaii you could find many people that would love something like what you are going to produce. They are very stately and I could see some of the Hotels and Resorts exhibiting large specimens of these. At least they could grow them outdoors for most of the year and they look equally attractive with or without leaves.

Very inspiring, Jericson. I ordered two sets of arabicum seeds for Ko this week. I am very curious to see how they grow. I don't think I am as much a gambler as you. I learn so so much from ya'll.
