I can't offer much advice because I don't know much about Alocasia but here's one for comparison:
Upright Elephant Ear (Alocasia macrorrhizos)

Well, I know a little about I'm unsure as well!
There are so SOOOO many types of alocasia, but not so many available for sale.

Usually if I see a "plain green" alocasia like that, it's odora, rarely macrorrhizos... Within those 2 species, there must dozens, if not hundreds of "forms"!
It's very possible that's what you have.
The pics are not enough to say for sure, but the leaf shape, number of viens and overall look, make me think it MIGHT be something different!
Can you take more pictures?
Possibly in better light, if so, show us the top and bottom of the leaf, as well as the stems.
Any description you can give might help too, the plant is in your hands, you can see things that pics won't show.
Also where do you live?
That could give some clues!

Sorry to not be more help, I've checked this thread and the pics a few times but I'm not confident enough to wager a guess.

Probably A. Macrorrhizos of some sort, maybe Borneo giant, there's quite a few kinds of it, the only way to know will be to grow it out.

If you need any advice just scan around ATP, there lots of info around here!

I'd love to hear the story of that plant coming from there, certainly they have plenty of alocasia down there...

Like I said, just keep it growing and it'll tell us all we need to know!
@lariann, will know ALOT more than me, or anyone else on ATP, maybe any other board!
She's seen, owned, bred and probably killed more species of alocasia than anyone is the U.S.!
Not sure if she could considers herself an expert, but she's the closest thing to an alocasia expert I've even seen!

yes i will wait till it maybe has the biggest leaf but the problem is , the plant takes weeks to produce a new leaf.
Why it takes so long mhh i dont know i give the plant fertilizer but it produces leafs slowly.

Maybe its because i grow it in full sun.

I was actually coming back to ask about the conditions it grows in!
Aside from full sun... What temps does it get exposed to?
What soil is it planted in?
When was it repotted?
Do you see roots coming out the drain holes?
What are you feeding it, what strength and his often.
How much experience do you have with these plants?
Again, a rough idea of where you live can help a lot too!
Alocasia can be very slow to wake up and really grow! And when they're aclimating to new conditions they can slow down.
If they're up and active, it's hit our and they get ample care they move fast!
A leaf a week isn't a bad rate, colocasia can do a leaf every other day! I love that!

The more info you give, the better chance we have of figuring it out.

It looks like your doing fine with it, I'd not fret, but let's make sure your culture is right so you can get the best growth possible.

In vienna we have 35 -38°.
I planted it into seramis, it has a bit earth but most seramis, it didnt also grew in normal earth(still dont know why) and in seramis grows also slow.
It was repotted 2 months ago and no roots coming out of the hole.
I feed it with normal greenplant fertilizer or seramis fertilizer. every week.
I had an alocasia from west africa, my father brought it from there because i am african . He was in burkina faso and thats where he found the plant near a river but its already dead my first alocasia.
I got overwatered by someone and then it rott.
I also have an alocasia portora and wentii.
The portora grows slow but faster then this alocasia and my wentii grows like a mushroom.
I live in austria in the town vienna.
The alocasia was an offset and the person who sold it to me grew the plants in an green house.
But why it doesnt grow is for me a mystery.

Hi foussi, It's certainly warm enough! I can't help much with identifying your plant other than it looks large enough to rule out an A. macrorrhizos. I'll second Swayback's comments about LariAnn. Did you know your Upright Elephant Ear (Alocasia 'Portora') was hybridized by her some 30 years ago?

I'm sorry to read you lost the Alocasia your father collected. I still enjoy plants which came from my family the most. I've used Seramis as an additive to potting mixes but not as the main ingredient. Others will hopefully have advice to offer.

Sway, I thought the plant and leaves look mature enough that there shouldn't be leaf tissue at the sinus if it was a mac. Have you ever used Seramis for Alocasia.

That makes more sense, maybe your right...
Negative on the seramis, never been a fan of clay for hydro...
That might explain the problem, are you growing the plant hydroponically?
If not then I'd guess a change out to rich well draining soil would help a lot!
It is very possible to grow alocasia in hydro, colocasia go ballistic! But it's a lot of work, water and feeding unless it's automated.
I've had some fun results with passive, bucket in bucket systems, you can even forgo the inner bucket,, just fill one bucket with medium with a hole drilled a few inches up the side, they'll drink it down fast but a new leaf per day is doable with the right colocasia.

Foussi,
Your plant is very likely to be A. odora or A. x calidora - I favor the first as your plant does not have the look of A. x calidora. It is not any type of A. macrorrhizos. The conclusive diagnostic would be a picture of the blooms.

Thanks lariann, i will see if it makes a bloom or an leaf thats big and detailed enough to identifcate it.
But its still strange that the mother plant had leafs that had an other shape then the offset.

That's actually not unusual with these plants, many will show several different leaf firms as they mature, it can really make things confusing.

I also have a problem with my colocasia jacks giant.

The edge of the leafs of the mother plant are dry and brown but i keep spray it with water but all new leafs have this strange problem , but the offsets dont have leafs with dry and brown edges the leafs are normal .

Also the mother plant makes tiny leafes and at the start it didnt even maked leafs. There were only the stem of the leaf but no leaf at the end.

Is this a kind of mutation of the plant. I got the tuber this year.

Sounds like a root problem, possibly root rot, maybe too much fertilizer, a pathogen, heat or cold, too much or too little heat...maybe something else...
Is this a plant in a container?
I bet it is, I get much more leaf burn in pots, from all the about mentioned reasons.
