Okay well...here is my first time grafting and I think it's safe to say that I had success!!! 2 out of the three survived! One got really mushy so I pulled it..not the cleanest job but I would say not bad for first time!!!

now it looks like you have this more "squarish" and "flat" than slanted or "v" shaped. I should try this. Not sure until when can I graft without the plant going dormant. I'm guessing August would be the last month for me to try this again.

Now where did you buy your grafting tape? HD and Lowe's don't carry them.

I did this one in the morning before going to work! Lol 😂😂....I wanted to try a different style of cut, I think with more time and maybe some pins I could of made it neater!! I didn't used special tape..well I sort of did, I went into my wife's first aid kit and used the white tape from the kit!🙈🙈

Not wanting to rain on your parade, they are not bad for a first try, but there are quite a lot of gaps and in the end those grafts probably will be weak spots. Compare:

Still a small gap but the cambium has joined up well, which is key. Keep trying, Mark!!
Gigi you can use any tape! And I would say September is your last good month for grafting.

I could not agree more about not grafting in the fall and winter months, at least here in NE Mississippi. I grafted six plants last November after being advised to do so, and every one failed. I ended up losing four of the root stock plants and so far have only been able to root two of those six scions.
