There are so many wonderful and different cultivars of daylilies displayed in photos on the many threads here on the Daylily Forum. Even though a photo speaks a 1000 words, it would still be nice to have more detailed information on each cultivar for others who may consider adding it to their garden.

This thread is just a poll to find out which cultivars you think deserve a "Daily Daylily Cultivar Spotlight".

I am only asking that you add the names of those that you already have that you think should be featured in such a daily thread. Please add the name of your top 10 or less daylilies. We would like to feature one daylily a day, in order of the most votes and/or the order they were listed. We will feature all listed. When we finish with that list we will poll again for more. Thank you!

I don't have many registered daylies, but I will add one that I love:

Lavender Stardust

EDITED TO ADD: The main reason for THIS thread is to only compile a LIST of your top 10 favorite daylilies that you own so that you can share pertinent information about them LATER, for others who might be thinking of adding them to their own collection. (Save your comments for when the cultivar is featured!) We are also planning to add a few more questions for each cultivar in the Plant Files Database and hope anyone who has the "cultivar of the day" will be kind enough to answer these new questions. (There will only be a few questions and it should only take a minute or two to answer them.) Each "Cultivar of the Day" thread link will be added as a reference note in the database (for that specific cultivar) so others researching them can read additional information about them in the Cultivar of the Day threads.

Larry - The Daily Cultivar Featured can also be for daylilies that DO have information in the database. Each cultivar thread is to add "additional" info and it's corresponding thread will be referenced under each cultivar in the Plant File Database. Having a thread will allow growers and gardeners to add to the individual cultivar thread at any time. It would nice to see comments on the day the cultivar is featured, but more comments can always be added later, too! Photos, growing information, any special reasons you like a particular cultivar, disease and pest resistance in YOUR garden, it's performance in your area, etc. All useful info for others who may be interested in why such a cultivar is appreciated.

as a beginning DL aficionado Hilarious! comments added to the Daylilies in the database would be VERY helpful!
Now I can only look at the different photo's and have to wait and see how they will perform.. Shrug!

is it a fast grower or will I have to wait 5 year before I have a nice clump (in which case I might decide to start with more fans!),
how do they handle high temps, rain, wind, how sturdy are the scapes....

I try to find comments about certain cultivars I'm interested in by following treads, but this woulld be so much easier! Thumbs up Thumbs up

Mayo - Exactly! I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Another TWO I want to add:

Siloam Double Classic
Paper Butterfly

I love both of mine and they are new fans in my yard. Siloam Double Classic is getting ready to bloom again! Yee haw!!! Hurray! Hurray!

Gale i just got Joan Derifield and Highland Pinched Fingers this year. Hopefully they will be great next season for me.
Teresa, Destined to See bloomed crazy for me this year. Many scapes from a small clump. So nice to see others have same taste that i do.
In the orange category i would like to add Orange Tremor. Its been the same spot for probably 7 years and its a real monster when it comes to blooms and muscular scalers. I'll either have to divide it or move i to a larger spot.

Becky, I just wanted to make sure that the purpose of this was clear to everyone because, judging from some of the posts, I wonder if some people are taking this as a 'these are my favorite daylilies, let's celebrate them' instead of a "what cultivars would you like to see more information on" type of thing. Whistling

Just a thought, but maybe a line or two could be added (edited) in the initial post to make sure it is clear? Smiling

DND - I added a note to the first post. I hope folks will understand what the main purpose is for doing a featured "Daylily of the Day" thread.

A little off topic, but... Regarding the data collection form, I would love to see some optional buttons or check boxes, such as "well branched", "fast increaser", "prolifs", etc. This way people could "comment", but it would be searchable.
