Hello,

I have several hostas that are usually quite large. this year the leaves are small and the plants are hardly growing. We had a lot of rain this spring and summer. But, now it is quite dry. Although, i noticed this before it got dry.

Does anyone know what causes this? Oh, also, it seems to be in just one area of my garden.

could be the soil is running low on nutrients...? or perhaps a lack of water is the answer...? im pretty good with hostas, we have nearly 70 of them in our various shade gardens, but ive never experienced this problem before. or perhaps the plants in question are on their way out...

I have noticed mine seem to be a bit smaller and it is not for lack of rain! I added 2 more Sum and Substance and another Stained Glass. I love getting those BIG pots of plants. It takes so long to grow them in the garden.

Did you have a lack of rain LAST year? That could affect the size of the hostas this year.

Yes, we had a shortage last year.
