Hoping someone can advise me where to go from here (pardon the lack of proper terminology).
A little over a year ago, I planted some lemon seeds to see what (if anything) would happen. Sure enough, out of the 4-5 seeds put in, I ended up with 1 really awesome, blue ribbon sprout which after getting to about 4-5 inches, I replanted in a proper pot with gravel bottom, good soil and fertilizer. This 1 sprout made it's way taller and taller, developed smaller "branches" and leaves and I was excited. The bottom 1/3rd even has a more proper wood/tree-like base now.
Winter came and well, life got in the way. The leaves fell off. The top 1/3rd looked dead to me, but the bottom 2/3rd was still hanging in there. The warm weather returned, and I wasn't sure what to do, so I cut off the dead part, and was left with about a 3 inch stick. Watered and liquid fertilized it and tons of sun. Now the tree part looks exactly the same to me, no change in size or color. However, there is one new branch of growth coming off the middle-side of the main stick, and another huge growth coming just off the bottom at a v-intersection.
So I guess what I am wondering is:
1) Are these two new off-shoots taking all the life from the main, centre growth (which isn't growing)?
2) Should I cut off the middle-side growth?
3) Should I cut off the main stick and replant the stronger looking, healthier looking bottom v-intersection growth?
4) Just leave everything as is?
In my opinion I would leave it alone for now, I think it looks really good. Others will add more thoughts, I may be wrong with my opinion, it happens sometimes
