Out at our local park this plant is growing along the creek beds. The blooms are a pretty pinkish-mauve color and it grows about 6-7 feet high. Tiger Swallowtails are all over it as are many other butterflies, bees etc.

Would like to know what it is to see if it would grow in my garden....

I think it might be one of the Joe Pyes, Eupatorium sp. We have both Joe Pye Weed in full sun and Sweet Joe Pye in part shade.

Looks like I'm going to have to get some for my butterfly/hummer garden!!

If you have space... maybe try some Monarda, (Bee Balm) too. We have Monarda fistulosa, which is a pale purple, but it sure draws in the butterflies and bees. And Hummingbirds are supposed to like it, but I haven't seen any of them in awhile. It gets big which I had no idea when I planted them. I think I have at least four of them here and there. I had to move my Large-flowered Beardtongues and it looks like it is crowding out some Black-eyed Susans in the yard. If this was my prairie area, I would let it be. Even though I do not really succeed, I try to keep the yard somewhat less wild looking.

This spring when they first came up, I called them my Bee Balm Balls. But like many of my plants, a good rain or wind will make a portion of them go flop.
