I have this vine that has shown in in my garden beds this year. I noticed it first in my neighbor's yard several years ago, and now it has invaded mine.

Can someone please identify it, and tell me how to get rid of it?

Looks like some type of ivy - maybe Baltic? Is anyone in the neighborhood growing this as a groundcover?

My first thought is that it looks like a Melothria species such as Melothria pendula.

Gosh, Danita - you could be right. I'm not at all familiar with the creeping cucumber but those little growths (fruits?) should have told me it's not an ivy.

The little golden yellow flowers are an indication, too. My grandmother recently had a similar looking vine growing in her yard that, at first glance, I thought was Melothria pendula but then discovered was Passiflora lutea instead upon closer inspection. I've read that the Passiflora lutea can be a little overly enthusiastic, too, but it's demurely cute and could be a host plant for some butterfly species. Yours is not the Passiflora, though. The flowers look like Melothria from what I can see in the pic.

Thank you all for your information. It seems this plant is Melothra. I will continue to remove it as it grows, I'm not interested in eating the fruit. I'm surprised that it thrives in GA, and has come back for the second year in a row, despite our frigid winter temps.

I greatly appreciate everyone's input.
