Thanks Ken. I do enjoy them very much. Always nice to see blooms on ones which have not bloomed for you before.

On another note, Ken. Is it yourself that competed prior about growing Orchids? I would like to ask a question of you if I could? Will do so if I am correct in asking. Just let me know.
Don't want to if I am out in left field.

@RCanada (Rick), I am unsure about the "Orchids" question. Please ask that question again.

I have around 16 "baby" Adeniums growing. Half are in a shaded greenhouse and half outside, getting some mottled sun through a plumeria's leaves, but most of the day, they are in the shade of the house. They all are doing fine as far as I can tell. We have had a lot of rain the last four days but those outside don't seem to have been bothered. I can't really see any difference in the growth of those inside when compared to those outside.

Ken, I was unsure as to whether it was you that I had read, grew Orchids. I am relatively new to them. Have had some in the past, but I recently was given a Phalenopsis Orchid and I repotted it into a new pot once it had finished blooming and it was actively growing. Since repotting, I have noticed that the lower leaves have a somewhat dull and withered look to their surface. I am not sure whether this is a shock, lack or over watering issue. Repotted into a an orchid mix (fir bark/perlite/charcoal, etc.) What would be your thoughts on this?

Thank you Ursula. I cannot take credit for starting these, outside of one. Just bringing them into bloom is all. Such great trees.

Yes, Ursula, all from seed. But you knew that, didn't you?

Oh, I put those that were growing in the greenhouse, outside with the rest of them. Those outside, in mostly shade, seemed to be doing better, growing faster, than those left in the greenhouse. Though the greenhouse is shaded and has a fan going 24 hrs., on a day where it is 95F outside, it will be 120+F in the greenhouse.

Mine survived our vacation in July and look fat and happy too.

Yours are ahead of mine, Ursula. I was remiss in getting mine potted. I just have too much going on in the spring and early summer.

Rick, thanks for sharing your beauties. A couple of days ago, while Rinoa’s and I were corresponding about my order of grafted plants, a tropical storm hit Taiwan. I had relayed my concern for their safety. Apparently they are okay as shortly after the storm passed my order was processed and will be shipped by my Wednesday. I will get the $10 permit this week from Agr. One of the grafted adeniums I ordered is “Aurum Crown”…hope the flowers look like yours.

Kadie, yes I had seen that Rinoa had posted a note of her FB page about the storm. Glad they are fine. I think that is great that you will have some of her trees.
It will be interesting to see your Aurum Crown when it blooms for you. They could look quite different in color (shade that is). The yellow can fade quite quickly, but a lot has to do with where they are placed and also the humidity levels. So I am finding out.

I am also waiting for 2 trees to come.

Doris, All so beautiful. That "Yellow code" has very nice coloring. Interesting w Purple Rain. I have seen this one from many different people and they can vary quite a bit. Mine is quite different in shade of color.

@RCanada My Rinoa order arrived on island...just got a call from Customs. They said they need to take the package to Dept. of Agri where I got my import permit, for their inspection of the plants, and that Agri. will call me when done. That was fast!

Rick, since this is my first time receiving live adeniums I want to be sure I treat them correctly, i.e., handling, planting. As you have received many plants from her before, please I would appreciate your advise in this matter.

Kadie, you can ask me anything. Most anything, anyhow :)

So glad they have arrived. What I do is soak the root end in Superthrive. Not necessary and will mean they will do better either way. Some people let them rest for a period of a day or so inside. Most times I plant up right away.
Pot up in your mix, just slightly moist. Do not water in for 3-4 days. Then water and keep in a bright shady spot for at least a week or two. Then gradually move into sunlight. Keep somewhere that they will not get rain.

Post some photo's Kadie. Would love to see them. I get excited even when somewhen else gets new ones.

Rick, thank you so much for your advice. I found the floor-dry/calcined clay/diatomaceous earth and the forest bark for orchid seedling cultivation (guess this one is okay as they are in very small pieces), but not the proper chicken grit. We only went to one feed store though, and all they had was something that looked like it had crushed oyster shells or something, and pricey. I happen to have on hand PennMix construction gravel (very small grits) that I will screen and rinse...I think it will be okay to use? I know that I also need to screen the fine particles out of the calcined clay and the forest bark.
Here are the Rinoa plants. The caudexes are bigger than what I thought they would be. The one in the left corner is the Aurum Crown.
