I would like to grow carnation plant/flowers. I am wondering where I could get them from. I am not sure if walmart carries them as I am not a big fan of theirs. Thanks in advance.

Most seed racks and companies carry them.
They may be listed by the Latin name: Dianthus caryophyllus.

Richard, did you ever find them? I purchase my seeds from organic growers, so I ordered some from Peaceful Valley:
http://www.groworganic.com/ren...
(I think that is the variety I have, anyway...I'm not looking at my seed packet at the moment.) They have others, just type in "dianthus" to the search bar.

Mine love the raised garden bed they are in and are blooming profusely right now. I put them in my veggie bed because Carnations are considered an edible flower. They have a beautiful, sweet smell, although they are a little smaller than the carnations I've seen in stores, but I haven't tried eating one yet. I keep forgetting that's part of why I purchased them--they're just so beautiful! I've been dead-heading my carnations so that I get more blooms, but if I happen to save any seeds from them this year, maybe I'll tree-mail you and send some your way. Smiling If you're dying to have them, though, the seeds are cheap enough from Peaceful Valley and other retailers, I would just purchase them direct.

DogsNDaylilies, I was not able to really devote the time to look. I ended up taking a management position at one of my jobs and have been working a lot of hours, but the last couple weeks I have gone to a normal schedule at work and quite one of the jobs, If you do have come, I would love to get them as these are tied with irises as my favorite flower I am sure they are available at places like Wal-Mart but I try not to shop there for personal reasons. I would be open to other flower seeds you might have also next year..
