Just noticed the price tag. Does that say $99?

That is about what my local nursery charges for large mini gardens. The cheapest one I have seen was 50.00.

Bet you appreciate your DH's work even more now. The cost of the container and the knack to put a pretty garden together is expensive. Hilarious!

Absolutely! He's the absolute best-est! I've never looked at the prices of the ones at the one store I've been to (2 hrs. away) that had ready-made minis. Probably similar.

My local Nursery have mini-garden classes and you pay 20.00 and they give you the pot, plants and decor to create your pot. I have never gone to any of the events but they post the pics of the events. For the 20.00 they gave them

- A small 6" pot
- 3 plants
- soil
- 2 fairy garden decor pieces.

I think that was a good deal. A lot of people do not have the knack of some of the talented people pots I have seen on this forum. Also, if you purchased 3 plants, a pot, soil, and fairy garden decor it would cost a lot more that 20.00.

That sounds like a great deal! If you ever decide to go, I hope you'll share some pics! Some of the decor pieces I've seen had "are you kiddin' me?" prices. They know people can't resist. What's cuter than mini arbors & lawn furniture though? Not much. LOL!

I know the prices are crazy. They do sale the fairy decor and the cheapest piece is 7.99 and that is a little rock. Rolling on the floor laughing It amazes me that someone would not know they could buy that rock and about 40 more of the same rock in a bag for a dollar at the Dollar Store.

I would only go to one of the classes as something to meet other gardeners. But I keep thinking with 20.00 I could buy so many more plants. It does not seem to be as much of a benefit. I do not get lonely enough to give up 20.00 for something I can make so much cheaper.

They get me when they have a breakfast or luncheon social garden party for 20.00. I have gone to those and we had a good time and they gave everyone a 50% coupon to use to buy plants but you cannot use it on any garden decor.

Those are interesting, Paul. Love the tiki hut (and now want to make one,) and the one using artillery fern as a tree. Brilliant!! Like a real garden, there's no right or wrong for minis, but I do love when there's tiny, proportionate foliage used in a mini.

My newest mini is now a "sinkhole" garden, I guess I'll say it's a Florida scene. A squirrel or chippy has dug 2 deep holes in it. Looks better than if I'd tried to do that on purpose. Those little furry creatures can't resist joining in on any kind of gardening. (And that's a feature you just can't buy.) LMAO!

I agree thanks for sharing Paul, I need a better inspiration for my miniature garden, and this helps a lot! I really need to finish mine.

Tiffany I have mini sinkholes too Rolling on the floor laughing but the culprit is the Cuban frog.

I love Miniatures....Gardens, Dollhouses, all of it!

These are so adorable!

Most of it can be made yourself. So many ordinary things can be made into tiny objects, like an old toothpaste lid can become a trash can.

It is so much fun!
