Has anyone NOT used clips and stuck bubble wrap on to the GH walls with plain water? How did it hold? I want to use bubble wrap this year and planning now for it.

I have a lean-to hobby GH, attached to heated garage with a door. I also have a natural gas heater in my GH that DH installed for me. I do use bubble wrap on the upper half of the GH and rigid styrofoam panels on the bottom half. The GH frame is metal and has double wall poly panels. I use blue painters tape to tape the bubble wrap (a double thickness) to the frame. For the slanted ceiling, I'm able to thread the bubble wrap through the cross supports and then tape to the frame. Sometimes the tape gets too wet from the condensation inside the GH and fails but not often.

It is far easier to use extremely durable solar blanket material and just wrap the outside of the greenhouse with it. No tape is needed, and just as it is easy to put up, it is as easy to take off in the spring.

Sorry. We've talked about this before @Ken, and my very short frost season. No, it is not easier for me to manage a large solar blanket over a 10ft 6" roof line. If it won't stick with plain water as I have read, I will buy the clips. They will stay up permanently.

I'd like to somehow insulate mine the same way. How do you stick the bubble wrap to the walls with water? I have a Shelterlogic 10 x 13 and since I now have one for orchids I'm going to really need it insulated much better than it was last year plus I have to use a propane heater to heat the thing with and I had a lot of heat escaping last year. I tried closing off the outside vents with Gorilla tape but that just came off when it got wet.

I have heard some use a bit of soap in the water to also hold it. I am going to experiment with some bubblewrap scraps I have on the polycarbonate panels and will let you know.

Thanks Cheryl, I watched the video, I'm not sure that method will work on mine since it's not glass. I may have to figure out another way to put it on the inside.

Google search says it also works in non-glass. Like i said, I'll experiment. Then they'd also the clips to good them in

I'm not very "tech savy" when it comes to greenhouses, but last year was my first GH. I used the solar pool cover and cut it to fit all the way around the GH on the inside -- I used clothespins to hold it in place. I had some heavy duty clips, but the clothes pins did great -- and I could take it down when I wanted on an extra warm day (we're in Texas). Anyway, worked for me.

I simply wrap my solar blanket to cover all the outside, Carol. I have plenty of excess material but I don't know whether I can put any of it on the inside walls. I do have it inside the doors though, but it remains on the doors year 'round. The doors remain open during the spring and summer months, so the solar blanket doesn't really mean anything being there.

Cheryl, I just used a little Dawn in a spray bottle of water on a sunny day. I just sprayed the glazing, and sort of squeegeed the bubble wrap on (bubble out). Some came loose after time and needed reapplied (be careful around heater areas), and some needed to be peeled off when no longer needed. I read it can reduce heat loss anywhere from 20-70%. Thanks @Eric4Home. I need to get that done this week, I think, or next. We are having an above normal temps for November. I feel like taking my time but I also need to be ready for when the temp surprisingly drops in one night. I have a big sheet of mylar for the North wall. That will also help reflect sunlight back into the gh. I think I will put it up infront of the bubble wrap. Did you put bubble wrap on the ceiling as well? Cut each piece to fit each pane exactly? Who has the best price? I saw rolls at Walmart. But I know moving and storage places have bubble wrap, too.

I did get mine at Walmart, yes, I did cut it to fit, and yes, I did put some on the ceiling. The next year I moved on to Ken's idea of using a pool solar cover over the top and down the sunny side.

Phew! Was too hot to work on the bubble wrap. 85° and 89% humidity outside. 100° and 50% humidity in the GH. I did start putting up some sheets. I was sweating like a hot summer's day! But when the trigger broke on my spray bottle, I took that as a sign and moved on to other chores. I put up a few more sheets@dusk. But too many mosquitoes wanted to help! Light rain and cooler Temps tomorrow. Maybe I can make a better dent?

Get a nice, small, pump-up sprayer, Cheryl. It will last 10x (maybe 100x) longer and is so easy on the hands. That's all I use in my three greenhouses and solarium.

I'll have to reach up and get that pump sprayer of the top shelf @Ken. Good idea. I'm so slow at this project ! I'm not making much progress. I worked on it today. Was sweating like a crazy person. I quit when i looked at the thermometer @85° and 70% humidity. Phew! Again, way too hot! Does this stuff really have to be installed in the sun? ! It's going to kill me! But i got a corner done!

I will stick to my solar blanket material, applied as a full sheet on the outside. No water necessary.

Well, as usual, we won't get anything near resembling snow here. So I require nothing as serious as a solar cover for the next 3 1/2 months. Besides, I am having trouble reaching the top while on a ladder inside of the gh. I can't imagine reaching on the outside? I'm just trying to hold some heat in. Like I said, I am fighting 85 degree heat and it's November! I hope this can stay up for somewhat-good. I can squirt soap water here and there, but I would love it if I didn't have to take it down. Ever. Can you say "double stick tape"? I kept the sheets long and tucked them securely within the panel frame and behind the supports. Maybe I'll have an official Hot House? Maybe I shouldn't have disconnected the A/C unit?

While we don't get snow, or at least seldom, we do get cold here in NE Mississippi. I haven't researched it, but my guess was that we got below freezing 30 days (probably more), in the 20's 15 or more days, and in the teens 6-8 days. The solar blanket cut my heating costs by almost 50% last year. Since I don't really grow anything in my greenhouses from April till November, other than starting seeds and using one for the first week or so when rooting plumeria, I can just leave the solar blanket on year 'round. The greenhouses get awful hot regardless, and I just leaves the doors/vents open during the spring and summer months and run fans when there are seedlings/plumeria inside. I do use shade cloths during those months.
