We had a small shade garden at our former house and wanted to put in some type of shaded area in Maine. In checking around our son's property where we rent for the possibility of new gardens we noticed an area that was wooded and shaded. We thought this might be a good spot for a shade related garden. It is a passage way between the driveway and the large mowed field beyond.
It already had a nice ground cover of vinca, tall garden phlox, Solomon seal and a wild white rose.

This about what it looked like when we started.

Next we cleaned out the area.

We had the need items for the path and to amend the soil when planting.

Very nice! I bet it will be a welcome spot on a hot summer day! I love woodland plantings.

Thumbs up dogwalker, great job.
I'm undecided if I should invite you to do the same thing to my yard or if I should invite myself to Maine to enjoy the shade. Thumbs up

Don't even worry about the straying, reconnecting with friends is great where ever it happens.
The lovely lady in the pictures is my wife of 40 years, Marilyn.
She is the brains behind design and layout. I'm the one who research what plants would well where.
I must say she is always proving to be the better eye for location and placement. Like a little kid going for an ice cream, all you have to do is mention garden center and she is out the door.
