I have a question..we are to have a wet and colder winter than usual in zone 8b this year and early fall..
I do not see any ice or snow unless it is once this winter..
I have planted a Wendys wish saliva that came in a 2 and half gallon
container with good root system on September 6th...on a higher end
of the flower bed..shown here..
If it is to be real wet this year raining and colder ...perhaps below 32 some nights
should I put straw around and up under this new salvia..or will that cause it to
get too cold with wet ground and
rainy winter...even though it is on a higher
end of the flower bed?
I can try to put a tarp over it if it got down to 20 degrees at night
but I have other salvias too and want your opinion on this?
Having been a flower grower and having this garden for 15 years
I am just not sure about a colder winter here and more rain this year
is why I asked..I have not lost a salvia in that bed....in the past..
