( I posted this in the wrong place earlier today...)

When I moved south I dearly missed the cheerful Forsythias we enjoyed in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

How thrilled I was to find a plant called Forsythia Sage with its interesting leaf texture, strong growth habit and bright yellow flowers. Mine came from the North Charleston Plant Swap. It may not be a Forsythia, but it certainly makes my eyes happy, although it grows so tall I need a step ladder to appreciate the topmost blooms.

I could grow it here, but I think I might not get to enjoy the flowers if we get frost.freeze too early. Love the pics of the flowers. Thanks for sharing the beauties here.

I had wanted this plant just because I liked the common name but the specimens at the nursery were way too expensive.

When I brought home some plant swap orphans (scrawny, unlabeled leftovers - the ones nobody selected) there was a NOID plant that turned out to be a Salvia madrensis. I enjoyed watching it grow. and grow. It got so tall I could not believe it. Once it reached seven feet I stopped counting. Everything about this plant is interesting; leaf texture, stalk shape and color, bloom size, height. If it would actually make seeds in my zone it would be a 100% perfect plant.

After seeing your pics of it, I'm thinking I'll check FBTS next year, get it, grow it and hope I see flowers before frost/freeze. I'll take a chance because it would be worth it

This plant would have a place in my garden even without flowers; the stems and leaves are beautiful. The flowers are just gravy.

I tend to agree - this one wins as a foliage plant even if it does not bloom. Especially the 'Red Neck Girl' variety. In Zone 8 and above, where it can establish itself and is not just an annual, we have it start blooming in July and it continues until hard frost. But new plants set out in the spring rarely flower before mid to late September.
