I got one of those icky grafted cactus, ripped the top off (tried to plant it, but it died) about 6 months ago. The base is a Hylocerus undatus - a dragon fruit.

So far it has grown two branches (is that the correct term?) that are ~ 15 inches each.

I have little hope that it will bloom or set fruit, due to my Zone. In either case, that would be cool.

I just like to try everything and when I found this is where dragon fruit comes from, I said .... neat. Go for it. Drooling

I had it indoors but they need warm climates so mine didn't thrive I gave it away to someone with a greenhouse.

i have two...one that supposedly has red flesh inside.. and the other has the light flesh in the fruit.. ..both are over 6' tall.. and are doing wonderfully.. aside from no flowers.. they summer it outside in full sun and spend the winters near a window and a 300 Watt metal halide light.. and still no flowers... any one want a cutting.. time to bring them in soon... and likely bits will break off getting them down through the hatch and ladder from the roof

Ok Lisa. I'll send one of each...
maybe mine are only 5 ft tall...
I had them in my arms today on the ladder...they are a bother to have in the house...so this year they will be in the hallway...under a faint light skylight with some plant lights...they will sit on a shelf just above the stairs.

They are a strong growing plant ...not much bothers it. It doesn't like going from inside to outside though...even with some time under a shade cloth it will still sun burn easily..
