Because they were a dollar I picked up 2 pots of this one. Ignore the red plant in the back I stuck that in there to root because I am making some more succulent balls for the winter pots.

Those are going to be beautiful next year.

Oh Bev that is beautiful. Mine will probably never look like they probably will not even survive my winters but I am taking a chance. I picked up the Garnet color from my local nursery early in the season so I am hoping I will have the red and yellow blooming at the same time.

Web I wonder if I put a pot in a protected area if I would have a chance of having my pot look like your clump.

Hummmm mind working here. I have enough to test in the ground and some in a pot protected.

Go for it Cinta...worth trying to get it going in pot and/or ground. Luck to you!

Sedum Candy/ Chocolate Drop
Sedum Orbit Bronze
Sedum Vera jameson I brought this last year and the animals ate it so I am trying again and will cover it until it get some size.

Is anyone growing Orbit Bronze or Chocolate Drop?

I have Chocolate Drop for since 2010 and love it. Not only are the leaves very dark, but are shiny also. I haven't grown Bronze Orbit.

Thank you Lynn that is beautiful. I am trying to get more color in that driveway sedum bed I built last year since touchdown did not survive the winter I am trying different ones this year. I hope the dark one survive this winter.

Maybe you could cover it with a really thick layer of mulch? And maybe a pot over that?

I have both but were just plugs so nothing wonderful yet.

Lynn do you think they would rot is I put leaves on them. I have enough pots to cover them. The pots may be the right way to go because it is a driveway bed and I shovel all the snow on them which may be why I lost them the last year.

Julia were they plugs this summer or last summer? I am trying to figure out if they can take licking and keep on ticking.

Is your driveway salted during snowy weather Cinta? If so it could be the salt doing them in. They type of sedum that go winter dormant shouldn't have any problem with being covered with snow.
For the other ground cover types you can cover them with leaves and remove the leaves when the snow is gone.

Last summer i bought them as plugs.

Lynn, I use Calcium Chloride probably worst than salt. It melts the snow if the temps are lower than freezing. I have so many leaves that fall normally the area is covered if I do not blow them off. I did not blow them off last year and When Spring came we had so much rain I think some of the sedum died from moisture.

I think you plan of covering them with pots is a good idea then when the leaves fall they will not suffocate them.
