Thank you for the welcomes! In answer to your question chelle, I started with three tomato plants and one green pepper plant. LOL I jumped in with both feet, didn't I? After that, I found a sale at a local nursery. The sale was really good. I ended up coming home with a velvet cloak Smoketree, three pots of blue grama grass ( blonde ambition), and a magical fire hydrangea. I already had a couple peonies and some lavender. Over the summer I bought some Gaura, which I love. I live in a bungalow, directly across the street from the little Arkansas River, so I want to plant a cottage garden in front next spring. I am also very interested in butterfly gardening, along with helping save the bees and watching the birds.
I have been buying seeds right and left. I am going to try my hand at winter sowing both annuals and perennials.
After I posted my message this morning, I drove out and picked up a bunch of lime stone edging for a small bed next to my driveway. I am learning about lasagna gardening, so I've been collecting materials for that bed. I already have coffee grounds, straw, newspapers, cardboard and manure. I have been collecting my yard clippings in the compost pile, so I don't quite know what to do about that. I also will be throwing a ton of leaves on top. I'm going to need to move six little irises that I just purchased a few weeks ago and stuck in there for the time being.
I know I'm really going to like it here and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
Thank you again. Patti
