I need some help from those with knowledge of citrus. What is this fruit? When I lightly scrape the leaves, they have an orange fragrance. When I lightly scrape the fruit, the fragrance is of lime. The fruits are "wrinkled" and are already larger than the limes I purchase at the grocery store. They are approximately 4"x3".

This is a vigorous growing plant and is about 6' tall. I have already had to trim (twice) at least 2' off the branches and 3' off the central, upright stems. I got this as a 6", NOID seedling two summers ago. There are numerous blooms on the plant.

Whatever kind of citrus, it sounds wonderful!

Could it be Kaffir Lime? Kaffir Lime (Citrus hystrix)

It has been nine days since those two pictures were taken and I am about to go out and update. Perhaps the updated pictures will be helpful. Most of those flowers have now produced little nubbin-fruit. If they don't fall off (as they all did last winter) perhaps I will have fruit again by spring. Does the fact that this plant seems to be in constant flowering/fruit production spur any memories as to what it may be? I know it flowered in the winter months, again in early summer, and then again in late summer.

Hmm... there is a cold hardy citrus called Flying Dragon, poncirus trifoliata. Don't know much about it. Look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Here's some good info that might be helpful. http://www.homecitrusgrowers.c... it says that the tree will flower throught the seasons. From looking at the photos, the fruit does appear a bit wrinkled.

I don't think that's the one. The leaves, flowers, and growing form looks different. Here is today's pictures and a few pictures taken 1-2 weeks ago. The fruit (there's only three Sticking tongue out ) are still wrinkly and somewhat nobby/dimply, and one fruit is now starting to get some yellow. These three fruit are palm-size. There's also a picture of a just-forming-fruit from one of those flowers.

Ken, Have you scratched and smelled the fruit? My limes have a wonderful smell... lemons not nearly as strong smelling but you can certainly tell the difference. The limes do turn yellow when ripe.

Those are unusual citrus fruits with the ribbing. Very well could be some kind of hybrid. The site I have posted above has much info about different varieties - here it is again, http://www.homecitrusgrowers.c...

Although not very active, you may try to stir this guy up, I've talked to him in the past about citrus but it's been years.

I did, and forgot to mention that it is getting more lemony. Two weeks ago, scratching the peel produced a noticeable lime fragrance.

Hello Ken,
I got your message.
They are still young, But I am pretty sure it is Citrus medica or Citron.
That is the fruit that they candy for Fruit Cake and such.
Can also be made into Lemoncello.
The purplish tint to the flowers and faint ribbing is why I think it is that.

Definitely does look right. The leaf shape matches too.

Very nice citrus plant, Ken. Thumbs up

It looks like I may be getting rid of all my plants. I can't think of a single use, at least a use that I can do something with. Thanks, Darren.

Citrus is not my thing. Just don't have room for "trees". It was a gift seedling and I grew it just to see what it would do.

I'd take it off your hands, if I could but citrus doesn't ship to Tx. Sad It has medicinal properties so I'm guessing you can easily find someone who would like to buy/trade from you.

Hey Ken,
How big are the plants?
If they are Etrog Citron, they are also used in Jewish Ceremonies.
Depending on the cost of shipping, I may be able to take them off your hands.
Darren
