I thought I would start a thread for those (like me) who have mostly brilliant ideas that run amuk when it comes to the execution phase. Topics could include:

1. the horror of glue
2. paint is your friend
3. using the other guy's stuff

I thought I'd start in 'the horror of glue' catagory cuz I just found an easypeasy way to coat an object with glue without glueing myself.

Stuff you need:
Object to be glued upon
Stuff to be glued on the object to be glued upon arranged in the pattern you want on a flat nonstick surface (eg. old cookie sheets)
Plastic bag equivalent to the size of object to be glued upon
Glue

Method:
Squeeze/pour glue into one corner of the bag. Place object to be glued into bag. Seal bag by tying or zipping. Turn bag so corner with glue is on top. Massage object while moving bag about until object is coated. Open bag and gently plop object to be glued upon out of the bag onto your arranged stuff to be glued on. Using the plastic bag, gently move the object to be glued upon over the stuff to be glued on. Set aside to dry on another nonstick surface or a rack or whatever works for you. TA DA!

I thought I'd post a pic on the topics of 'paint is your friend' and 'using the other guys stuff'. This was a very dark spot behind a big ole ash tree in my 'woodland garden' (which is actually just a small area on the north side of the house but it sounds more luvly when you call it a 'woodland garden', don't you think?). Anyhoo I got an unfinished concrete bench at an end of season sale and painted it to become my 'Alice in Wonderland' bench, added some contrasting colour to the fence and with the touch of the other guy's luvly embroidered pillow and another other guy's cute little sunflower TA! TA! I made a reading nook


As you can see I'm not the best painter as my lines are a little squiggly but methinks it adds to it. The luvliest thing about paint is the do-over factor: if it goes amuk you can always paint it over and start again

Dahlia: regarding your very first post with the birdseed wreath ... sounds exactly like something I'd do, only I would have probably glued a finger or two to the wreath along with the glass!

Now ... that "Reading Nook" shows me that you are definitely NOT"Artistically Challenged"! That bench looks awesome and what a peaceful setting!

I am one with a short attention span and I will try to get photo's later of a project I began but still haven't completed. I had four frosted glass ceiling fan light fixtures sitting in the shed that were never used, because after I bought them I didn't like the look with the fan and never got around to returning them for a refund! Anyway, I decided to use them as "Garden Art" so I took a PVC pipe and sawed it into three different sized pieces and planned to paint them a shade of green for the garden (but still haven't gotten around to painting them!) My husband glued some little pvc thingies (I can't remember what they are called but they are some type of connector things) to the base of the light fixtures that screw onto the pvc posts. My idea was to plant trailing plants in them and place them somewhere in the garden.

.... Photo's of the still incomplete "art" to come later, if I can remember to get the camera out!

What a neat idea Lin!! I have some of those glass thingies too. Hmmmmmm......
