Name: MstrPBK ST. Paul, MN USA (Zone 4a) I got the slugs out of my garden!
I have recently taken the time to learn the term of the stem of a hosta Scape is properly known as a: Peduncle [not sure of the pronunciation; if it's Ped•uncle or Pe•dun•cle; although that's a separate issue]. In turn what is the term of the hosta flower clump BEFORE it opens to independent flowers?
Does it have a name? And why do you need to know? Unless you are talking only with hosta gurus, keep it simple in terms that people can understand. Otherwise, you spend all your time explaining your terms.
