There are probably a wide variety of things that appeal to different members here. On the iris forum there is a lot of sharing plants and friendly chatter. I enjoy looking at Site Talk to see everyone's ideas. If I have good source of pictures I enjoy contributing to Plant Weeks. I guess my list of things I enjoy could be quite long but my top 3 are 1. Hunting for subjects for good pictures to download and share. 2. Sorting through my folders of pictures for those that will make good Multi-Plants. 3. Making Banners. I am aware that Calif Sue has 100's of banners to sort through and choose from and I have created quite a few to add to her work. I realize that most of what I have posted will never be used but I find it very satisfying to create banners. I dump a high percentage but feel compelled to add a good one. What are the things that you enjoy at ATP?

#1 is @Dave and how eager he is to help us in any way we need it.

There are a host of others, like Multi Plants, the friendly folks on Dahlias, but after #1 everything pales in comparison. Without Dave I wouldn't be here.

It's hard to say what order I'd put these in because they are all so very important to me. My top three favorite things about All Things Plants:

1. Plant Database: I enjoy contributing as well as reading about so many different types of plants
2. ATP Members: I love chatting with and learning from the kind folks I've met here
3. Family Friendly Site: I love that this site is always kept clean and family friendly

Thank you @Dave and @Trish Whitinger for All Things Plants! Lovey dubby

Management! Dave Listens to suggestions, and if enough people want the change, he makes it. If there is a glitch of some sort, he fixes it within minutes ...not days. The ease of posting multiple pictures at once is great. It's really nice to be able to go strait to the boss, and cut out the middle man!
The people here are all interested in gardening, and are rarely sniping at each other...in other words polite.
Best of all it's free!
Dave and Trish are fantastic!

I got started here by needing instant information when I was looking for plants to do my landscaping. Once I got hooked on daylilies, I was hooked on ATP. The Daylily community on here is so forgiving and I have never once seen someone write "that's been answered before, go look it up." That's the most intimidating thing you can say to a newcomer when there are thousands of articles to sift through, etc., but everyone on here is so eager to help and so friendly. I love that.

I have to second what everyone says about Dave, too. And it goes not only for Dave and Trish, but for for the community as a whole: friendly answers are given quickly. You don't have to wait months for someone to stumble upon your post and answer, there is almost always some sort of reply within a day or two. That suits my impatient side well. Big Grin

The congeniality of all the members. I am not focused on any particular plant, but I always feel welcomed to any forum, even for just a quick 'help me' question. I also like how the organic v. chemical folks are able to have cordial discussions to better understand opposing views.

The responsiveness of Dave and Trish, as noted above by several others. So refreshing.

The accuracy and breadth of the database, and how it interconnects with My List. I have totally abandoned my previous system for tracking my plants and now use ATP exclusively for that. The added bonus is the ability to access all this information remotely.

The constant evolution of the site. I've only been a member for a few years and have been amazed at how much the site has changed (always for the better) in that short time. And virtually glitch-free!

The fun stuff - earning/giving/receiving acorns, raffles, photo contests.

The noticeable absence of a bunch of rules, and the self-regulating nature of the site. I've only seen a couple untoward remarks which the members quickly quashed and/or redirected in a cordial way.

The humor and kindness that permeates throughout the entire site, from members to moderators to administrators.

(I purposely did not number my responses, as they are all equally important.)
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
