I only have a couple clems and this one is my fav, it blooms in late spring but its largest bloom out happens now until frost (last year that was mid December!) I'm letting it grow into the maple until it finishes blooming then I'll cut it back.
Its a Himalayan clem yellow blooms that turn orange as they die off
@springcolor @goldfinch4 to make sure you saw how well this one is doing Thumbs up

I tip my hat to you.

That is really beautiful. So nice to have something blooming as everything else is fading. Looks good on that dark maple!!!

Thanks Julia, yes doesn't it!! You should see in person, for some reason my camera isn't getting the orangey ness of the blooms!
The cutting I tried making for you (air layering) didn't live. I may just have you take a branch next time you come over so you can try rooting it that way (this clem seems full of life!) I tip my hat to you.

Greg, if there is any branch near the ground scrap a bit of the hard woody outer coating off. Then dig up a patch of soil so it's soft and put the branch on that and cover with soil, don't cut it of the mother plant. Then set a small rock on the part that is in the ground. I bett there will be roots in a year, maybe late spring.

Arlene it is! I only hope it doesn't hurt the tree - in the picture it looks like this tree has 2 separate sides to it, that is only because the clematis is so thickly growing in the middle of the tree Whistling

Greg - I've never had any clematis that hurt the host tree or shrub. I'd rest those fears!

Beautiful, Greg. I hope you're adding all of these photos to the database. I need this clematis, and I even have a pretty maple it can lean on.

This one seems really easy, bloomed the following year after being planted, and it grows like crazy!! I tip my hat to you.
