Well, I knew this day would come. Bring stuff indoors for Winter - which unfortunately for me is the majority of the year here in Zone 5B ~ 7 months. But HEY - looking on the bright side, I will have fresher air.
And LOTS of pretty things to look at without the hassle of walking outdoors! But then who would want to when the wind chill is 17 below. Again the bright side.
If they were outside, they would all be dead.
So DW and I spent the day cleaning up plants and debuging them. OMG - I detest Scale. And Spider Mites And ... Black Sooty Mold (which is actually a fungus
10 % bleach solution and a sponge - POOF. And plain old spiders. All gone!
) But considering, things looked much better than I expected. This has been a hellish growing season.
Anyway - Day 1 moves:
6 ' Tropical Hibiscus
5 ' Tropical Hibiscus Standard
7 ' Weeping Fig Ficus
3 x 25-30 year old tender Agapanthus - very large. Repotted 4 wks ago
Spider plant x 2 (one with a whole brood of babies)
10 year old Lipstick plant
5' var. small leaf Shefflera
Beautiful full bore blooming Red 3' bougainvillea (2 more to go)
3 YO Lantana
30 YO 6' + Jasmine (in bloom so the room smells nice)
2 x 10 + YO Asparagus Fern (ouch)
Brunfelsia grandiflora Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow - in bloom. Sweet
3 + foot citronella Geranium pruned by ~ 18 "
and several others that I forget (at my age - the mind is the second thing to go
)
Of course, to arrange all this, we had to move and rearrange ~ 30 other inside plants.
As I wander around the kitchen there are 9 plants now in addition to 15 orchids. (Cooks can look over their shoulder and pretend they are in a jungle!)
The Dining area has 27 plants - the better for my After Dinner hobby. The front Living room has 13. Hey - Live plants have to live some where. Right? OOPS! Almost forgot the fine Italian pottery 5" x 24 " on the back of the stool with its lovely 7 types of succulents. DW idea - not mine.
And worst of all. We barely made a dent - nothing from deck made it in. Nor the hundreds of seedlings in my driveway. And I still also have 200 1 - 3 YO trees and shrubs to put to bed for Winter.
I so love gardening.
