The weather is getting colder. We mostly have our new iris buys planted or potted, and we have the long wait ahead to see them bloom next spring. So why not post a random picture or two of those that have bloomed for you in the past? They don't even have to be this year's blooms. I am sure there are worthy pics lurking on all of your computers, tablets, phones, etc.

I suggest you keep your posting to no more than 3 a day because we have a long winter ahead, and need a daily iris fix!!

Kid Gloves - sort of overlooked by all the showy newcomers this year, but this little newcomer is sweet too.

I just came in from watering and as I did a walkabout I was counting the new ones for next year and paying homage to the old tried and true ones. Here are a couple that I enjoyed this spring.

TB Call Me Reba

TB Shipmate First Class

These were created by an Arkansas hybridizer, Mark Grumbine. Mark is going out of the iris business now but he is still a world of information. I am glad that I have a few of his in my garden.

Oooh, I love the pale hints of lilac and gold on Shipman. You are fortunate indeed.

This is Ball Room. I've had it for a while, and it just keeps doing well every spring. I've shared it down to about 3 rhizomes this year, and the ones I have left are pretty small, but I bet it will still bloom this spring.

This is Brilliant Idea. It's a very good grower, bloomer and all around nice one to have in the garden. I look forward to it's nice blue color and big yellow Caterpillar beards every spring.

This is Sharp Dressed Man. It too is a great performer, growing fast, and blooming a long season, and oh the fragrance.

They don't have to be favorites. You probably all have some you take for granted. Or maybe just forgot how much you liked. Variety is the spice of life, and this gives us an opportunity to share some that maybe we forgot, or have a photo of that we never posted. Just a revisit of iris past as it were. Tomorrow I think I will post some bonus iris because I have been blessed with some amazing iris. You didn't order them, but are ones you wouldn't do without. I have a lot of these!

I am starting to really appreciate the tried and true. You get all these lovely iris and some work for your garden, some don't. Lovely ones you have to count on Jen!

Forgot to say that Cotillion Gown was a bonus from a Keith Keppel order. I spent what to me was an unimaginable amount of money on getting Ride the Waves from him. By Jeeves was a 'nice, but just to fill out the order' choice and I ended up happier with Cotillion Gown and By Jeeves than I was with Ride the Waves. Hilarious!

I have some that worked out that way too. Sometimes you make such a fuss then the first bloom makes you wonder.... I am hoping that they grow on me!

And glad to see you posting Debra. Looks like Texas is in for some flooding. Hope your area will be okay.

I do like Ride the Waves, it is gorgeous. I just was amused that I liked the other two in the box better. Hilarious!

Thank you, Leslie. Feeling better these days. We are so dry (back to the Exceptional Drought stage) that I will be happy to see whatever we get. Smiling
