Well, I've been here 2 weeks and have started to settle in a little. Checked out the community garden about 1/2 mile from us. Will get a spot as soon as I have the money. Start up cost $125.00 after that its just $75.00 every 6 months. It is all organic growing and year round. BUT first I have to change the license on my Jeep and my drivers license to Calif. Cost: about $350.00 That will wipe me out for this check. So will have to wait til Sept check to get my garden space. In the mean time, I am working on what little space I have here to garden.

In checking out what is already here, I discovered a poor little pink hydrangea hidden under an out of control jade plant. I've cut the jade plant back to give the poor hydrangea some room. I'll remove the rest of the jade plant as well as other bushes out there over this weekend. My son will be gone to his dad's birthday party, so I'm on my own for 4 days. I'll be busy wacking down some bushes.

Have decided not to do the community garden. I am having problems with being out in the sun to much, esp after I heat stoked last July 4th in Glasco, KY. Sent a day out with my son and GS, temp was 84 and I started to feel dizzy and lightheaded. Had to find me shade and cold water quickly. Anyway am working on getting the area around the trailer ready for gardening. Have decided to have all raised beds. I was given 14 half barrels so will start with them. Just have to get the planter mix to fill them. I have 2 filled already and in one I have a tomato, parsley and basil. The other one has a new hydrangea that I got at the flea market, here its called a swap meet. It is a lace cap and blooms out white with a pink blush and than turns white. I'm having problems getting all the very old hibscus cut down and removed so I can set up the barrels and plant my OGR that I got from Melva in Texas.
