No Cactus but I picked up a $ 120 Arbor for 25 $ Demo model in purfect condition.
120 -> 89 -> 50 -> -> 25. went back to purchase at 50 $, so I Saved 50 %. My wife was pleased.

I'm so jealous. Our Lowe's does not discount products nearly as much as the ones in either Charleston or Columbia. So, whenever I go out of town, I check the Lowe's at that location. I find the $1 and $3 plants in Summerville, SC and Columbia, SC (Lexington county). Last week, they had fruit and flowering trees in large pots for $10. I was driving the family car and there was no way I was going to put them in there. DH would be totally unhappy. He already thinks that plant people are crazy. I did buy hanging baskets of calibrachoas for $1. I bought six and gave some away. I wasn't feeling well that day, and not in the mood for shopping. But, I did get my bargain fix for the day.

Are Calibrachoas hardy there? If not, store them in the garage over winter - in your husbands parking spot. Heh

I'm not sure if they are hardy here, but I do intend to overwinter them in the garage. It's an oversized garage, so there's plenty of room for my plants and his car.

I am in Zone 5B and over wintered two Deck Rail planters of calibrachoas in my garage last year. Gave them a bit of water once a month or so. Looked great this year. We do NOT park cars in the garage. It is there for storing plants and supplies.

Haha David! funny thing about not parking our cars in the garage because I just got done doing just that....storing my precious plants.

Good grief - @cherryb1ossoms - how do you get in there to water/ That is quite intense. To say the least.

BTW - was it really necessary to bring stuff in this early?

Unfortunately, my DH is a little OCD about things being organized. He is one who strongly believes that cars should be stored in a garage, yada, yada, yada.....He did provide a metal shed for potting/storing plant supplies, etc., completely set up with shelving and lighting, but unfortunately, it does not work for overwintering tenders. It will freeze in there and there is no ventilation. He's putting off getting me a greenhouse. But he knows that he will have to sooner or later.

I prefer to keep my dormant/semi-dormant tender plants in the garage, as I know that they are protected from freezing. I just need to get things organized--shelving and additional lighting. At present, I only have one under the counter fixture in there and one window, although it is not a sunny one. That was sufficient enough to get by last year, but not now. I was recently gifted some large aloe veras, a tall pencil cactus, and some baby kalanchoes,etc. So I have to make room for those as well.

I'm working on removing unnecessary clutter in the area, so that I can store my plants, which keep increasing in number each year. Houseplants had to be rushed in the garage, because we suddenly had 2 nights of frost last week. They need to be debugged before I bring them in. A work in progress.

That is so nice and tidy Thea! I am still repotting some plants, then I will set them up upstairs for their winter hideaway. My Celadine will be the one hiding in the garage later on if we get hard freeze forecasts, too heavy to carry upstairs.

@David- I won't have time next week when the temps dropped below 50's to move these into the garage and cover the rest of my plants outside due to hectic work schedule. Plus, it says it might rain today and now I'm looking at the weather forecast - no rain I might put some of my repotted COT outside today and then repot the other 2 pulmerias into bigger pots.

@Debbie- I feel you! I want a greenhouse as well so I don't have to move these plants but I don't ever think I'll get it because that means husband has put it together. I would have to beg him to put it together that's if has time. How about the big succulents/cactus? Do you store them inside too or just cover them up? I going to have to cover mine up in plastic underneath a covered patio and pray that they survive.

@tarev - thank you! Next week looks like it will below 40's when you repot them, do you give them a little water and bring them in? I was thinking about my pulmerias - 2 of them are in small containers and I want them in a bigger one. Should I do it now or just waiting ill spring. Thanks

Hi Thea, just wait for Spring for your Plumerias. It will be going dormant later on. It will be awhile before they are active again, maybe waiting till mid-April to early May.

The other plants I have just repotted have existing roots so I can water them. I still have time for them to adjust.

Thea, at present, I do not have any large C&S specimens, except a tall Pencil cactus that was given to me recently. All of my other large specimen frozen a few years ago when we had a sudden arctic blast that dropped temps in the lower 20s for 3 nights in a row. I was sick with an upper respiratory infection and DH put them in the metal container after assuring me that they would not freeze. They didn't really. They melted. Still

Amazing, how some small things can pick up the spirit.

Lowes California doesn't have a lot discounted. When they do it's usually on it's last legs. I did pick up a dwarf apple tree. It hasn't done much but it is growing! :)

The blueberry I bought on the discount table just didn't make it. Sometimes I think the more I baby them, the worse they do. ;)
