Nice collection! I chopped all mine down to the soil level and they are now in the greenhouse til next spring.

Looking very good considering all the rain.

I am on the lookout for an ark. Between the daily and excessive rains and the super high tides it is coming at us from above and below. Today it is sea fog, when I went outside it felt like I was walking through soup.

Can you move your EE's to a covered location until the soil dries out?

A. gageana and a mystery one similar to Stingray. I recently found a young one coming up that I had not seen in years, A Sarian. I've been battling C esculenta for 15 years, it is a real pest here.

I brought in my syngonium for the winter. I've added flowers to it for fall. My EEs are still outside.

Cheryl, have you ever left any Syngonium in the ground for the winter? Many years ago I took cuttings leaving the plant itself in the ground and it came back in spring as it has every year since. Mine was the one with pink leaves.

Yes, i have the standard green syngonium in the ground. They do come back every year. I heavily mulch them.

I try to keep black runner in pots. I let C. Illustris out and its every where but still not a pest yet anyway.

No, very heavy marsh muck. I foolishly assumed we would have sand here and promptly had a rude awakening.

And I had just the opposite rude awakening here, Alice. Foolishly assumed there might actually be soil here, but it is all sand, sand, sand.

Speaking of EE's gone wild, we have a huge garden of Xantho's growing in the ditch in front of a neighbor's house about half a block away. I'm sure she plants them so that she doesn't have to mow down the banks into the ditch. Every few years the utility guys come by and roust them out with a backhoe, and darned if they don't spring right back up the next summer . . . hey, they probably filter/clean the storm water really well! And they're really pretty too.

Found the picture I took of them a couple of years ago. They are twice as big this year after a rainy summer.

Whoa, they are huge. I had one of my esculenta thugs, the plain bluish green variety, travel under my house and come up on the other side. I knew I was in trouble then. I would be terrified that those xanthos in your neighbor's ditch would swallow her house some day.

Well, they do seem to like it in the ditch where there's lots of water. See behind them, there's an oak tree between the Xanthos and the house. Also once it stops raining in the fall, there's probably not nearly enough water for them to travel far. The beauty of our sandy soil, it really does dry out fast.

I don't think that's a 'runner' type, either. They seem to make pups right next to the big ones, but I haven't seen them even appearing 'downstream' which would be on the other side of the road, so it would seem they're not seeding or sending pups out too far.
