Do you have any suggestions for daffodils that will do well in my zone?

Rob, Brent and Becky's lists varieties for the south, which means they perform well with minimal cold period and should also perform well in your zone. They've revamped their website, and although it is taking me some time to get used to it, you can use various filters to do a search which is pretty handy. The day after Thanksgiving they usually mark all remaining bulbs half off.

Any of the tazetta group are great in warmer zones.

Hi Rob, in my little garden Narcissus paperwhite 'Ziva' and Ornithogalum dubium is doing okay, even right now with the sudden freeze warnings both are doing okay. But Ziva will just go to sleep when the super hot temps return, right now it is trying to form a blooms stalk. Ornithogalum dubium will have blooms around Spring.

Hymenocallis Ismene Festalis does good here too, need stepped up watering by summer when it is awake, such a water hog. I also have a Eucomis Tiny Piny Opal, it is asleep at this time, but comes back again in late Spring to mid Summer.

I have grown some daffodils too, sorry, do not know which type they are, I just did not replant them, had to remove them from my succulent container, it was being over run by the succulents.

I only plant in containers, so I can hide them when it is sleep time or just to move them around as needed.

Oh yes, I'd overlooked the "and other bulb" part of this thread! Tarev, I like your pineapple lily suggestion; I'd wondered how well they grow in CA.

Rob, if pineapple lilies are something you'd like to grow, I'll have some extras available in spring when I divide. I grow them in pots and some varieties increase fast.

Rob, do you grow any amaryllis? They're awesome in clumps in the garden- I so wish I could grow them that way! And in the same family, Clivia are good for shady areas in your neck of the woods. I believe they're both resistant to critters too.

Sinningia tubiflora is a good choice for dry areas. I need to try a couple of them in the ground- data base says hardy to 6a. I'm in 6b but could probably give it extra protection. The growth is kinda course and fuzzy, so I don't think deer would bother it.

Hi Rob, I do not live in your area but from what I have been told it seems to me that Freesia would be good in your area. I am trying them in pots inside this year. Everyone has said the fragrant is awesome.

I saw some very pretty Leucocoryne when I was working in Ca. and dutch Iris should do good in your area.

Leucocoryne! Thank you for the name! I think these were growing in a field at my sisters vacation home I couldn't figure out what they were.

I did try Clivia's once, but they died and I have yet to try them again. I think I will give them a try (again) and some of the other bulbs mentioned above.

I can send you some Sinningia tubiflora and a pup from my yellow clivia in spring.
