One of the children picked up a Tillandsia. It has no species name, but looks a lot like yours. It still remains on the card thing it came with as we've not figured how to display it nicely. I'll see what he thinks of what you did.

Maybe I'll get it ID'ed for sure and I hope ours is the same one.

Kim, post a photo on the Plant ID Forum and I bet it will get identified! My little Tilly came from Lowes and was attached to a card, labeled Tillandsia Gift Card, Vista, Ca. $5.00 They had a couple of other little ones but I'd been wanting a T. caput-medusae for a long time because I like the shape/form. I ran into Lowes last week to pick up orchid mix and when I spotted the little Tillies on my way out of the store I couldn't resist this one. I'm thinking about ordering some small and medium sized Tillies on-line to mount to cork or wood to give to my sister.

Then I have to wonder if this is the same thing. Lowe's for $5. That's where I got the Sago Palm, too. When I am stuck going to a "man store", I sit out in the van to wait for the fellows, but actually walk into Lowe's since they have house plants. :D

Thumbs up Me too ... the only area of Home Depot and Lowes I'm familiar with is the garden center. Green Grin!

I bet your Tillandsia is the same thing as mine if it was attached to a little card. I googled and found lots of plants listed at Lowes website but none of the little Tillies on the cards and the little sticky price tag with the upc code said Tillandsia Gift Card, Vista, Ca. and it listed the care instructions etc. They had a few different types but the T. caput-medusae is very distinct with it's shape!

Here is my son's plant. When my husband and the boys went out to get a few things, they were going to look for a small wire basket to put it in. They didn't find any, so came home with this. Yuck... but guys don't worry about how something looks as long as it works. I guess it works. Sticking tongue out I am running out of spots to put plants downstairs without having to by a shelf or something, so I thought this would be a good spot until we need the extra shepherd's hook. Well, I forgot about the draft from the front door, so it's back on the top of my desk.

I got another Tillandsia yesterday, but it's a different species. I wanted another of the same, but they all liked sickly. Oh and a child wanted a sizeable bromelaid, but I told him he would have to keep it in his room. I guess he didn't like that idea.
