Are Venus Flytraps usually droopy? My three Venus Flytrap plants are green and look healthy but they rest either in the pot (on the soil) or hang over the edge of it. One is sticking straight up, but none of the others are. Is this normal for them?

I don't know a thing about carnivorous plants like the Venus Fly Trap (Dionaea muscipula) but your plants look healthy to me. Hopefully others who grow them will be able to offer advice.

Some varieties ARE droopy. Yours looks like a 'typical' type though. Keep the soil constantly moist. This is dormancy time for them actually. From about mid October to Valentines day.

What kind of light are they getting? That could have something to do with it.

I tried (and killed) several flytraps until I found the secret: they love sun and grow very easily outdoors. Since then, they've thrived. They grow sturdily and color up well. You might be able to grow them outside as well, if it's not too cold in the winter.

I don't think it's required to feed them, and none of their mouths are open at the moment.

Your Flytraps are fine so far. Outside of greenhouses and terrariums, these plants don't live very long. They are interesting novelty plants, but don't get too attached to it.

Yours is properly potted in damp sphagnum moss, not soil. Keep the moss barely damp, but not wet. Don't disturb the roots or consider repotting it. High humidity helps. Use distilled water, if possible and fertilize not at all or very sparingly; likewise with insects. Keep it warm and in bright indirect sunlight.

Hello Caroline, I do not grow Venus flytraps, but I saw this at California Carnivores last weekend, the Venus fly traps just do that drooping mode..seems to like it that way, laying/touching the moist sphagnum moss:

It actually made me think, why I am never successful growing them.
