Welcome, Jaime! I don't think I have Venus fly trap seeds and I'm kicking myself for not harvesting them this past summer because someone else wanted them, too.

I don't have strawberry seeds, but I do have strawberry plants that I might be able to get some starts from even at this time of year, thanks to the warm weather. I'll try to look and see tomorrow. If I do have them, it will either be Allstar or Ozark Beauty.

Since you're new, I don't know if you've seen it or not, but I have a seed swap starting online here on ATP in a few days if you're interested in a larger-scale trade. We'd love to get more people involved in our seed trade! (And my goal for the future is to hopefully somehow do a plant trading swap in the future, too...but that's for the future. ) There may be some people in the seed trade that would have pampas grass seeds. I actually had some but threw them away for fear some might accidentally find themselves in my yard. (I didn't realize when I first got them that pampas grass can actually cut your skin if it gets you the wrong way and that worried me because preys and small children are a concern. )

Do you know what types of bamboo you are looking for?

Hello DogsNDaylilies. Thank you. I've seen them. Im in several swaps on GW right now so I don't want to get in over my head. Plus Im still trying to get a feel for the site. Lol. That would be awesome. I did not know that about pampass grass. I'll have to watch where I plant it. Im waiting on some white and wanted to pair it with the pink. It will be my first try at bamboo, Im just looking for a hardy bamboo that will do well in my zone. I appreciate your feedback. I hope you have a great new year.

Thank you, I hope you have a great new year, too! Unfortunately, of all days, today was the day it snowed. It's not a ton, but it's enough that I'm uncertain about sending starts out...I'm just concerned with the cold and the moisture that they would rot while en route to you. You can try getting them from where I got them, though, which is www.groworganic.com . They have very reasonable prices on the strawberry starts and the best part is that they are organic!

As for the pampas grass, I have to confess, I was confusing it with another type of grass that I researched but decided against, I think. The reason I didn't plant pampas grass is because it can become invasive. (I researched so many ornamental grasses earlier this year that I'm forgetting a lot of the information. I've had the usual ornamental grasses when I saw the Pampas I fell in love with the look of them. Plus it comes in pink so that's a plus. I have pink muhly that I plan to sow in the next few days so it has a nice start come spring.

Pampas grass will cut you. Particularly if you run your hand toward the main clump part as opposed to going out on the leaf. If that makes sense. For Indiana Zone 6, she would need a hardier variety. The bread & butter ones typically grown way down South will die.. I have a stand that has been in the ground over 40 years and mine is not invasive. I even moved it 4 years ago. Took 7 hours. Mine is the standard color.

David-Good to know and it does make sense. 40 years...that must have been huge. That's a long time for one plant. are you refering to the pampas or muhly when you talk about a hardier variety?

I love the 'standard color', personally. They're so beautiful and I really wanted some for my yard, but I know that I'd end up getting cut on the grass and that if I didn't, my dogs, neighbors, or guests likely would. I'm too 'into' my plants...I go in between and around them and I'm even debating pulling up my marionberry plant and one other that have thorns (but since they produce fruit, I'm a little more forgiving of their thorny nature, but only to a point...).

Hardy Pampas Grass Erianthus - not muhly.

It was about 4 - 5 + feet diameter and as deep. A male mulberry had grown over it and the grass was not thriveing. So I moved it. Took most of a day.

And did get cut a bit but that was one time I wore gloves. It took a season or so to catch its breath. I leave it over winter and as I look out the window, it is ~ 7 - 8 feet high on the leaves and the blooms are over 10 feet. Quite spectacular on a bank. As you drive up the street, you can easily see it from a block away.

Sounds awesome. I had a clump of an oriental unsure of type that came with the house that the blades were about 6 ft. And plumes were about 7 1/2. I loved the size of it. Makes it more appealing to me.

David- is witchhazel easy to grow? Those Peruvian daffodils are amazing. So pretty and unique.

Witch Hazel from seed or what? It is a fairly slow grower. I have an Arnold Promise that yesterday opened its first bloom. It has a LOT this year. Last year hardly any and no smell. :-(

Yeah - I love the Peruvuan Daffodil. Pleasant surprise this past year as when I was getting ready to store the bulbs for winter, I had a new bulb form! Yippee.

Yes seed. It's one I would like to try and grow eventually. Extras are always a nice surprise.

Cold stratify for 30 days or so. Good luck. My germination has been less than stellar. Heh

I think I got some lousy seed from Georgia Vines last year. Heard the same complaint from many people. I started ~ 30 witch hazel and had 2 come up. Both perished in short order. I had 5 varies - 3 species and 2 or 3 hybrids. Had no idea what I would get cause I knew they would not come true. Didn't matter.

Oh wow. That's a really low germination rate.
