Let us know when you pick and how it goes.

My favorite snacking pepper is hands down, Jimmy Nardello. Very sweet and very productive!

@abhege I love Nardellos! I have been saving my own seeds from them for three years now.

I will. He sent them to me, along with Bhut Jolika peppers, just before he died so I'll grow them in memory of him.

Reid,
They all sound delicious!
I tried Marconi Red last year because a friend really liked them. Now I do! They ripen to red so much better than a bell pepper.
When you do settle on a snacker, I'd be interested in what you choose, lol!

Hi Pirl!
If anything it is a pretty, red pepper :o)

The man in front of me at the supermarket today paid $2.50 for a big red pepper. I hope it's worth the price!

Pirl,
Oh my! Ours were over a dollar so I opted for a three pack at slightly less. I can always use them and must confess, that if not for the price, I'd love to buy red, yellow and orange peppers all the time.

I froze many from our garden, in October, so I'm ready for winter through spring.

This year our peppers came in really late so we didn't have many for market, which we finished up the end of July. We plant a large variety so I have reds, oranges, yellows and greens. We gave away many tubs of them but we also froze a lot. A fellow vendor at market told us about freezing peppers whole so we tried it. I wasn't sure how to go about using them but the other night I made a chicken fajita bake and took one bag of peppers out to use. After letting them sit about five minutes I cut off the tops then made one slice in the pepper and they opened up easily for me to remove the seeds. Then I sliced them in wide strips and baked them with the chicken, garlic and onions. It was delicious! At least now I think I may really use up all those peppers.

Pirl,
I used to freeze a lot of peppers. Last year my two freezers were literally too full to add another thing.

Nice selection Arlene!
I may start freezing mine again.

I think it was Safeway where I found bags of frozen bell pepper strips: green, red yellow and orange. They were more expensive than, say, frozen corn, but they looked much cheaper than fresh peppers.

And there's no waste. And I always have some red peppers.

They have only been "in stock" about 1/4 of the time.

Rick,
I used to freeze cut up peppers all the time to use on pizzas. I got tired of them frosting over every time I opened the container. Plus, the skin seemed tough so eventually I quit.
I think this year I'll just freeze some of the Marconi's. I do miss having them.

With some peppers, it seems like the skin is almost all the flesh there is.

Rick,
I agree. I grew up on California Wonder and never even considered a different kind till a former DG friend said she really liked the Marconi. Niw I do too. They still have a skin, but made great stuffed green peppers for the freezer. I'll still do a green pepper in the garden but I'm off to try new things!
